Transfer thread

Stats suggest the opposite of what you said. Among the top on aerial duels won, low number of tackles, but high number of interception, which suggest that he's in the right position to make interceptions, and doesn’t need to tackle. He was an absolute beast in the EL final, and other games. Of course there are games were he hasn't been at his best, but that's the same with all players. VVD looked awful in the Community shield.

Maybe the stats don't show it but I remember plenty of games last season where we conceded and he was out of picture half the time or running back just as they put it in the net. He's capable of good performances but isn't consistent enough.

End of the day our defence has been terrible for 2 years and he's been one of the CBs in there so he has to take some blame, I think he'll do better under Frank (as will everyone).

i think romero is good but i find him too slow in transitioning the ball to midfield or attack.

Great if we can keep him of course, but if it came down to getting 2 more players (like savhino and eze) I would think its better we sold him and get guehi for less.
One of his big strengths is his passing. Nothing wrong with his transitioning the ball.

Having just made him captain, the idea that we will sell him is a complete non-starter at any stage this season.

Guehi seems to be Liverpool-bound. Given the choice (if there was one), I’d imagine he’d pick them over us.

He is just... Very slow
I think his passing is exceptional BUT he is slow at making a pass BUT that is because he's often having a good look for the optimal pass the one that cuts through the lines or tricks the opposition. Of course that pass is not always available but his preference is always to look for it, and that sometimes comes at the cost of shifting it on quickly and simply, which might also often be the best thing to do.

Agree. But if we are going to sit deep often, we will need quick passes to turn defence into lightning attacks. Brentford did that lots under TF and how Wissa and Mbuemo got lots of goals.
