Savinho

He's worth as much as they are willing to sell him for and how much we want to pay. We don't really know either number in reality.

He is, however, a very exciting young player. With flair. A great cross. Can play left and right wing. I'd be glad to have him in the squad assuming we get Eze. Otherwise I'd say go all out on the Eze type player.

His crossing with solanke, Richie, Romero and danso, not to mention dragu is enticing.

A lot must depend on the player himself and his advisors. Is he pushing for a move? Does he feel there is a future at City? Have we agreed terms with the player?

I think Kudus as the 10 could work quite well. Would give us quite a bit of what we currently miss. Would perhaps struggle to be much of a tempo setter or super creative passer, but he's good at retaining and progressing possession. The comparison to Dembele (style, not role/position) has been made.

No doubts Savinho would be a very good addition regardless. Personally I struggle a bit to see how we get that deal done, but perhaps he's looking at that City squad and wondering how much he'll actually play.

He'll do well to get similar performances out of him. They don't play the same and Wissa has a more rounded on the ball game than what we've ever seen from Johnson so far.
Maybe so, but you have to remember Wissa is 5 years older than Johnson. Last season was Wissa's best ever goal scoring season. His second best was 16 (all comps about 5 years ago)

That’s why I don’t get the hype behind wissa
He has had a great season but it’s a one off currently
I’ve heard many fans of our ver6 own club telling me he is now better than anyone we have a striker which I just can’t see
Now if he repeats what he has just done then fair dues

According to stats, he had his best season with Girona on the left. Pep plays him on the right. I think he might be happy to make the move?
He would be great on the left but it’s not the norm now (as he is left footed)
What I like about him is he plays with control rather then the headless way Doku plays

People are just getting antsy because here we are, approaching 72 hours away from our opening game and the question of whether there's enough goals in the squad as it is hangs in the air like Tim Cahill.

It's always a risk...not too dissimilar to the exact same one we took on Solanke after one great season.
Probably a long line of forwards who are hot just for a bit. Remember Michu?.

…based on being playing his preferred position? It certainly can’t hurt.

We are a step down from Emirates Marketing Project, no way to get around that. But being a key player and starting games has to be the biggest draw.

I’m always a bit wary of buying top teams squad players. We need their first team players. The Bales and Modric’s of this world so we can close the gap. But at 21 Savinho could still be that category of player imo. The technical skill is there to see but needs some polishing. Finishing is the main thing. Frank has a track record of improving forwards finishing technique. And if Savinho adds this to his game he could be the next Mane and a top player, so I would personally roll the dice on him over Eze. Can’t see us signing both, although we could do with both. Eze in the 10 and Savinho on the left.

Been some rather good deals from City to other big clubs. Palmer obviously, but Zinchenko and Jesus did well for Arsenal, though not stepping up to that level you describe we need. Milner to Liverpool another one, perhaps not great/elite, but became a very important player for them. Lavia went to Southampton so not a big club, but fantastic player who imo would have been good enough for someone like us. Not to the PL, but Julian Alvarez too.

They sign so many quality players they're kind of forced to sell some really good players.

Also a difference between signing someone probably getting to their peak and a younger player like Savinho as you say.

Theres absolutely no shame in signing the megaclub castoffs if you really analyse the specific context and reasons why their move might not have worked or why they are being moved on. Sometimes its just as simple as they've been replaced by someone world class or better than them. No reason a player like that can't then be fantastic elsewhere.

Its a market we should be actively looking at. I recall we were seriously interested in Sancho when he first left City so we aren't totally ignorant of that market, just a shame we were unaware of Palmer. 😭

It's not as if City are desperate to sell him, Pep tends to let players go who want to leave for more game time and they want Rodrygo. It's not a bad reflection on Savinho at all, would love him to come here....

Yeah, lots of clubs suffer from the impatience of these young guns who aren't willing to wait for their turn to shine. They want first team football now and don't seem to want to be on the bench. I can imagine an offer coming in for Gray and him having to seriously consider it if it offers him 1st team football. I think he's the patient type though and would turn it down.

TBF Savio isn’t a cast off because they want to keep him
The sancho one was mad because that was a deal we should have done with the Walker sale
Palmer had agreed terms at Chelsea a long long time before he joined them I’ve been told

I hope we sign both. For a variety of reasons.
