So for anyone who isn’t aware, one of the migrants staying at the hotel has been arrested for sexual abuse against a young girl. Apparently he’d only been in the hotel a few days before it happened. LIf it is true it’s horrendous and he deserves whatever is coming to him.
But of course it has been seized upon that everyone staying there is a potential abuser of children which is ridiculous but social media is being used to stir up outrage and hatred.

It’s about a half hour drive from where I live and I should go there and join the counter protests but I won’t because a) I’m too lazy and b) I’d be worried about getting caught up in something that I can’t control. That’s shame on me.

But how do we stop this? I really don’t know but it’s all getting very scary.

Maybe the police should apply the same standards as they do to peaceful climate protests and throw them all in jail for a few years. Or wait.....I have a thought....maybe they should be a little harsher in the punishment because they are violent thugs. Yep, the 2nd one.

Or each individual case is investigated & charges bought. Has any peaceful climate protesters been thrown in jail for a few years. If found guilty the thugs will most likely get longer jail time violence should not be tolerated & the full force of the law should be bought down on them.

I remember that some just stop oil protesters got jailed for 4/5 years for conspiring to block traffic. There are plenty of examples. That seems a bit mad to me on the face of it, but I guess that is a different discussion.

I assume the original perpetrator of the sexual abuse crime was already long gone, so this behaviour has no point beyond racism and thuggery. Were any of these guys arrested at the scene?

So in the UK someone got 5 years for blocking traffic that seems excessive. Surely they appealed & won just based on the size of the sentence.

No idea if they were arrested but if they weren't they should have been. Maybe the police will look at the footage then make arrests

One arrest for assault nearby. But police reviewing all the footage. I'm sure they will be able to identify quite a few of them.

For the one I am thinking of it was reduced on appeal, but not by much. Maybe a year knocked off. And the original case was for conspiring to block traffic, not actually blocking it. There are a whole bunch of cases though with draconian sentences. I've gone to climate marches myself so it rankles, let's say.

Yep I guess they scan the footage but it seems like there are enough cops there to start pulling them into vans on the spot. However, I don't have the full picture so I'm only ranting at this stage and will bow out of this discussion.

I am not a protest type so good for you for attending climate marches. One day hopefully before it's not to late governments will realise we are running out of time.
