ITK Thread

"Why do Spurs fans always think we have the best X in the world for most categories?" - No mention of a world XI, let's see if we can avoid trundling into yet another "Everyone explains what their own arbitrary definition of what world class means without budging, rendering any discourse completely pointless" chat, it's summer and we're bored without football, but not THAT bored hopefully.

Over the years, it's been Lloris is the best keeper in the world...Toby is the best ball playing CB in the world...Dembele is the CB in the world....King would've been the best in the world yada yada yada

TBF it's often stating that the aforementioned players are the best in the league as opposed to the world so I'm perhaps indulging in a little hyperbole. But the key is it's mainly opinions that you'd only hear from Spurs fans. I'm not saying we haven't had some great players. It's hard to not make the case that Walker was one of, if not the best RB in the league for quite some time.

I'd agree that Son is an elite player, but stating an opinion that he was the best finisher in the world like it's a fact would be where I'd draw the line. Cases to be made for Bale and Modders being the best in the world for certain things as they went and it on the biggest stage.
Can we agree Hoddle & greaves were world class & don't forget Pat I could do this all day but I won't ITK thread after all

The strangest thing I’ve read today is that Arsenal have signed kepa and Nordgard as backs ups so it doesn’t matter that they aren’t very good (Arsenal fans argument)
Are they forgetting that the drop off from their first 11 is exactly why they don’t win trophies
The arsenal fan criticism isn't really the quality of the player but that they are again not addressing the main holes in their squad. For the last 3 years they've clearly lacked a quality striker and wing depth for Saka and starting quality for Martinelli as his form has dropped off. Nordgaard and Kepa do not address these things nor are they players for the the areas in which any squad quality drop has affected them.

Looks like they are getting sesko which IMO a is a sensible signing but still a gamble
He looks like a finisher but his all round play is a weakness
Why they have t got Gyokeres I’ll never know

I thought they would have gone back in for Watkins proven scorer in the league

Surely Jorginho and Partey both leaving leaves a hole though right? Partey could stay but I'm not sure centre mid is well stocked down the road. You wouldn't fear them if Rice was injured for a period.

I reckon centre mid is up there with the backup/competition for Saka and the obvious striker gap.

If he is replacing Rapey T…. It’s quite a drop in quality IMO

As I said somewhere else, is there perhaps a dearth of top quality and available centre mids?

You'd think they'd actually be in for Wharton. Seems like the right profile.
That’s £10m vs £100m
I don’t think there is that high end availability of players and I also think they are still cash strapped ish
Hence why they had a keeper on loan last year because their PSR constraints still kicked in

Rice, Merino, potentially Party if he stays and the reported agreement for Zubimendi. I can understand their frustration at the signing of Nordgaard. Striker and LWF should be their priorities and they've signed a midfielder and a keeper.

Weird thing is why hasn’t Zubamendi been confirmed… deal was done in January wasn’t it

Wait stop right there. This one actually happens to be a fact. Not having it.

I think the press jumped the gun possibly because the deal was supposedly the whole release fee agreement. So until Arsenal actually pay it then the "agreement" doesn't amount to anything.

Very very likely
Can’t fathom why they haven’t done it now though
Does feel very similar to when pool thought they had him

I can only take people's word for it. With Hoddle I just know him as a far from world class pundit / manager with a chip on his shoulder, armed with questionable views on disabled people, but I don't doubt he was a quality footballer!
