Transfer thread

I don’t think Hackney is anywhere near as good as Wharton. I don’t see him becoming a top level player, perhaps a mid table PL player or rotation option for a 6th to 8th type team. Gray has a much higher ceiling.

I do think a proper DM for now could be transformational for us. If, for example, we threw £350k a week at Kimmmich on a 4 year deal that could be the best £70m we ever spent. Of course I doubt he would consider joining us but I’d be giving it a try.

Samuele Ricci is probably the best not too expensive, youngish but ready now player we could attract.

I thought Gray is meant to be our big DM signing, deserves some games in midfield to show what he can do but I don't think we need another hot prospect there when we already have Gray. Someone young like Wharton who is a little more proven with scope to still develop would be ideal.

The Phillips / Devine moves seems a bit premature to me. There's indications that Wilder will lose his job so surely Sheff Utd would wait for their new manager before deciding on additions. I would think Frank would also want access to them for the first part of pre-season.

Ironically, Phillips and Devine could be the 2 players that can bolster both PL and CL squads without impacting the A-list numbers. Still not sure on that because of the UEFA wording on loans, but they seem to have been registered for more than 2 years.

I thought he was with them the other season as well? did they just make it perm?

Yep - 14 appearances last season and 1 goal. So its not a debut. They just made the transfer perm.

There's still talent there - I'd take him for £15m.
Not a fukking chance would I take him for £15m. Levy has just said the Europa League is not enough, he wants the league or CL. That means we need to buy some proven quality, maybe someone like Eze.

Chelsea paid £5m to send Sancho back.

My concern about Philips is technical ability in the premier league. I do not think he is ready.

Not even going to start on who I want us to sign. That Aussie w*nker has destroyed so much of my love for football this season.

But I will start on the players I want gone. Forster, Davies, Romero, Porro, Bissouma, Bentacur, Son, Gil, Maddison, Richi
Was he really worse than the Portuguese and Italian who came before? Methinks not.

55 million British pounds for Romero is dreamworld imv - will be around 30m euros. Richy will be around 15m
If someone offers €30m for Romero then they can foxtrot oscar. And as for Athletico Madrid, suffice to say if they were able to cough €127.20m for Joao Felix then they can fukking cough up between €60-70m for Romero if they want him.

He was my dream pickup for last summer. Player AND teacher. AND winner.

What do people think of Xavi Simons? A lot of talk about him now. I remember he was talked about as a wonderkid from the Barca academy before he moved to PSG, But haven't watched him since he has been at Leipzig.

Nothing special … but there is a player in there.

Absolutely stunning potential imo. Can become a fantastic player. But perhaps struggled to really get that out consistently?

If Frank thinks he has a role for him with us that suits him I think it could be a really good signing.

back to no one has a clue what we are doing?
If the last couple of seasons is repeated it will be all noise and unknown then all of a sudden very much all obvious and then done within days or a week.

A lot of changes going on within the club so that may change, but I'm guessing the policy is to keep things a tight as possible.

Bergvall too. Who seemingly can play multiple roles. And not like Sarr is a super experienced player either.

Another hot prospect, sell Bissouma and the only really experienced midfielders are Bentancur, Maddison and Kulusevski? That seems thin on the experience side.

I'm hoping Frank is just the right manager for Sarr at his current age.

Really assessing Sarrs biggest strengths and moulding that into a particular role/position for him.

(Viera like, hopefully)

In theory what we have read about Frank, his team, and his approach to team building & tactics should be beneficial to young players development.

While having a specific set way of playing is not without it's benefits I'd imagine that players who don't have the attributes to play to those particular demands could fall by the wayside and I'd have concerns over how well their all round game would have developed if everything was geared up to meet those requirements. I'm much more confident over our young players development now.
