Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

The CPS are shocking.

This is an absolute shocker and both the police and CPS should be ashamed this case ever came to court.
The case concerns Simon Correria, 48, director of a luxury watch brand, who, with his wife, was at the London’s Park Plaza Hotel, Riverbank, for an awards evening.
The Mail on Sunday reports a male waiter carrying drinks was about to back into him so Mr Correria put his hand on his back to warn him.
That waiter, a Muslim man, then claimed he had been abused and a finger penetrated him.
Mr Correria , from Liverpool, protested his innocence and footage from mutiple CCTV cameras in the hotel supported him.
Despite that, the police put a case together and the CPS said he should be charged with sexual assault.
Mr Correria’s life was put on hold for a year with him fearing his business career and the way he was perceived by friends, family and fellow workers, had been changed forever.
The waiter, a Muslim, said his religion meant he was “ very sensitive to this kind of thing”. He has received anonymity because he was an alleged sex victim.
Finally, a year later and it having cost him £10,000 in legal fees, the judge at London Crown Court threw out the case out in one hour 56 minutes.
The judge said the footage wholly contradicted the charges.
Mr Carreras, a father of two, wept when cleared and some of the jury shook his hand and they too cried.
There has never been an apology or explanation from either the police or CPS.
I think the solicitor who okayed this charge should be named and be forced to explain why he or she thought it right that this case be brought.
Was it because the waiter was a Muslim? This whole case stinks.
The Police and CPS are both under a direction from government that allegations of *struggle cuddle* and sexual assault should be progressed based on the victim being believed and these cases should not be closed due to lack of evidence. This was to counter the extremely poor conviction rate of *struggle cuddle* and sexual assault cases which are 90% "he said/she said" or in this case "he said/he said". This isn't the CPS's fault or the Police's fault, they've been told that for sexual assault or *struggle cuddle* allegations, they need to get them in front of a jury and evidence-based investigation decision-making shouldn't be used.

The world has gone nuts.

Sexual assault prosecution rates are often impossible to deal with.
S/he said-s/he said. Often no witnesses. Even if there is strong evidence you can have a greenwood situation where they withdraw/change their statement accusation as they "love them".

Not sure what you can do other than treat each allegation seriously. But you can't treat someone as automatically guilty until it is dealt with in court.

For me i will ignore anything in the media. Wait for the verdict.

Yep, this is a fairly grounded take https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c51yezl2dqlo

And the issue is the women can go through an ordeal in court with no guarantee of a guilty verdict. All the women that do decide to go through with it should be applauded. I do also think both the accuser and the accused should have their right to anonymity until a verdict is announced. How many people get their name dragged through the mud and companies drop them like a hot potato only to be found innocent! Johnny Depp comes to mind.

The only reason this case mattered to Danish is the accuser was Muslim.

Although you would be more inclined to believe they actually care about victims if they call it out wherever it exists and not just selective based on the perpetrators

Did they not call out the likes of saville, gary glitter, the catholic church, epstein, weinstien?
If anything it has been hushed up with police and mp's not going there for fears of accusations of racism. It's why people want an inquiry in this country about the grooming gangs.
It shouldn't matter what religion or social status you are. If you are a sexual predator you should face justice.

That is equality.

I agree is should not matter but to some if does hence why this forum has been awash with statements like "you are more likely to be a...............if you are a Muslim" which has been a theme over the last 12 to 18 months. As I say I would have more respect for views if the balance was equalled and people posted with as much horror about every incident, but they don't or its rare as rocking horse sh1t

I have seen people make clear and underhand racist jabs at @LutonSpurs directly and indirectly for some time, much of it linked around this precise topic, so there is a clear undertone with some and others don't try to even hide it.

I am not expecting every single story or report to be on here, but there is a clear lack of balance.

You miss the point entirely. This is about one individual and their posting patterns. The far right are obsessed with Muslim grooming gangs but white men make the majority (% wise) of grooming cases. They don't seem to care as ouch if at all.

Zero uproar on here that one of the UKs oldest and biggest institutions refused an enquiry, now people either care about this brick or its pontificating because they have a bias.

Silence is compliance apparently? Well these cases maybe just fell through the cracks

It doesn't bother them because theh don't actually care. And the Algo has got their tiny little brains focused on a group.

Here's the thing. I've said it before.

Its almost always men.

Yeh, there was a great report in a random womans fashion magazine (online) I stumbled on about sexual violence, I need to try and remember which it was and the statistics on sexual violence against women globally is unbelievably bad, across all race, religion, you name it, its happening. Imagine how many people turn a blind eye to their drunk mates of colleagues in the city feeling up someone in a bar, on the tube, on the train (been many a high profile case around Tottenham)........its rife and people are ignoring it around them in all communities and there lies the issue with "look at them lot over there" tactic

This country has had a massive domestic violence issue way before multiculturalism started, for it to be the idea that it along with CSE, that it only happens in one community almost exclusively is just a lie

Agreed. We should be equally outraged if the men were white and the government and the police weren’t doing their jobs effectively or calling people racist for mentioning their race or background.
