Thomas Frank - Head Coach

His teams work alot harder than most though, the point of the article was what would be expected and his teams cover ALOT of distance, so JM will regardless be asked to do alot more than he is used to and that might be out of his comfort zone and or limits.

Franks sides defend as a 9 in a 4/5 or 5/4 depending on opponent, thats alot of work to get through
I don't think we should be making assumptions about what Frank is going to do with our team based on Brentford - the skill set of our squad is different.

The feedback has been that he is versatile in terms of style of play, and I'd bet a lot of money he is looking to make use of Maddison in creative spaces considering he is our most creative player...

I did and he played in the hole and wasn't anywhere near as exserted as the others.

With all due respect, if you are telling me you think he has the same pace, energy and legs as his colleagues then we will leave that there.

I would dispute he played in the hole in those early games - he was up and down the pitch getting on the ball from as deep as our box and as far up as the oppo 6 yard box. I'd wager he was covering more ground than any of our players in that period

Isn't the point of a forum to discuss things?

Where did I say you can't discuss things? I'm discussing with you that he is acknowledged to be tactically flexible and whatever Frank did there doesn't mean players will be asked to do the same here...
Well if you are not making assumptions on style then it's fairly limiting topics about the manager and the future.

Fair enough, think there's plenty that could be discussed around potential tactics and how best he integrates what he's done at Brentford.

Wasn't even saying he won't play as you say, I just think there's a fair chance he might play a bit differently with the players at his disposal and the perceived style of play Spurs fans apparently like....

He may do, but it will most def be high work rate, not reckless like Ange but we will be a team that works to earn to play rather than being as gung ho as Ange, with hopefully more quality than Brentford had.

Watched alot of official videos of their past pre season and there are definite themes throughout

He didn't play in the hole. He was coming deep and driving play forward and then popping up in and around the box to pass and assist. If anything initially I thought we had our Modric replacement he was that good in those early games.

Yeah he was 100% not in the hole in those games in fact he almost gave a goal away v Arsenal getting caught taking the ball off the keeper, got away with it as they blazed over but that's how deep he was coming to take the ball off the keeper and defenders. In terms of him being "quick"...he isn't lighting but he definitely has a burst of speed over first few yards. He left Saka for dust in that same game to set up the equaliser

That's his 23/24 heat map so anecdotally there might have been moments he dropped deep, but he most def spent majority of his time as the free/advanced role in a CM 3.

Maybe its my eyes, but that heat map pretty much covers the entire pitch....

With the clear depth on focus being in a purely floating role in advanced areas and not deep. If the trend was him in a Modric role who would be picking the ball off the defence ala Modric then I would think that mapnwould be reversed

Anyway, like I say, I hope he does well under Frank despite my doubts and I hope he proves me wrong. If he can keep on his feet more I will be ecstatic

We didn't really defend under ange and had a very high line.
Although yes maddison was an attacking mid.

I'm just responding to the comments about him playing a deeper role.

He was IMO very much the definition of someone that played the majority of his time in a more free advanced role
