*** TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Brighton OMT ***

On a weekend trip with the kids, so only got to watch parts and bits. Luckily I was able to see the final 10 minutes. Fantastic with a late win. Reading through some live score commentary, it seems we were the better team and deseverd the win.

I’ve not been very impressed with Johnson’s overall play but credit to him, he’s getting important goals. He looked annoyed when he scored
I was pleased Johnson looked annoyed; hopefully he feels there is a lot he can improve on and needs to work on. Somehow he didn't work hard enough and looked exhausted after 10 minutes of play!

It's really good to see wide players that get in the box and notch a tap-in like that, it is such a rich seam of goals, that simple ball down the flank then low ball across the box.
Maddison Richy Son Johnson were all poor for a while and then suddenly it clicks and in 3 or 4 passes we've scored. It looks so easy when we don't muff it up.

Myself and a few others need to fill this out 😂

I think a lot of the criticism of him is valid tbf. Obviously it crosses the line when it gets personal but I’ve not seen too much of that on here. Social media most definitely will be a different story. But he’s not hiding, he’s getting into goalscoring positions and getting important match winning goals which he deserves praise for. The rest of his game needs improvement, I don’t think there’s any debating that personally. You can see from his reaction to the goal that he’s frustrated, either with himself, the crowd or both.

Regarding the game, was annoying seeing us defending late in the game when it should have been us putting their backs against the wall. I’m sure we will look better once everyone is back to full fitness and they’ve had more game time together.

Draw would have been fair personally, Brighton looked more dangerous in the last 20 minutes and missed some gilt edge chances.

Interesting that Billy Gilmore is only 22. He didn't play much when Brighton had Caiceido and McAllister...and Bissouma before that... but he has waited his turn and looked really good today after some poor loans.

He was good . Was highly rated as an academy player at Chelsea. Was tipped to be a first team regular.

So you're distilling your opinion down to a 25 minute period? Over the full 90 on balance of chances and threatening attacking play, we deserved to win

Well it’s my opinion they deserved a point based on the whole game. Certain periods of play we were well on top, other times they were. Not sure it makes much difference either way. I’m not saying we deserved to lose.

I don't think so.

I'm delighted he got the goal, but I want more from him, particularly defensively.

He won't be pleased with his performance today, I'm sure that's why his celebration was muted.

He's gonna get plenty of chances this season.
Again I'm just teasing, I agree with you but sometimes I get frustrated when I should just back the lad. He's still a kid

I think that views borne out of the frustration from our performance from 70 to 90 minutes. We were terrible in that 20 minutes and they were good. The rest of the game though I think we were better. Stats suggest the same as well.

We were, but we made chances for them too, so we did kinda get away with it.

Similar story to the last game against them.

In the away game, they got 2 pens and scored a belter from 25 yards.
In this game they got another pen and then Fati dragged a pretty easy finish inches wide of the post.
Fine margins.
But to give them 3 penalties in 2 games and still take 3 points is good.

Why’s that ? Son will start most weeks. Johnson is devoid of all form and confidence.
Difficult conundrum for Ange, use him as sub or start him in some games ? He's got less chance of finding his feet if he's not trusted to start. He can play all across the front I think.

We didn't do it for long enough, but that spell from around 50-70 minutes was the first time we've looked like a proper Ange team in a while. We just completely smothered them, they couldn't win the ball, couldn't keep the ball, couldn't get out and the goal was an inevitability. Why it changed from there I've no idea but that's the blueprint for the rest of the season. Play like that for longer!
I've seen it many times, one 10 to 20 minute exceptional period in a game can win it.
