IMO this is the best team we've ever seen in English football. They were ruthlessly efficient, finishing on a record points total in 2005 and then having the 2006 league title effectively wrapped up by October. Note two holding midfielders. What do we lack that that team had if we are to play like this with Sandro and M'Vila?

Robben was obviously a class above, but I don't think our wingers are that far behind. Van Der Vaart also isn't as good as Lampard was in 2005 but he's still a decent goalscoring midfielder that can pick out a pass. The thing that we lack most IMO is Drogba. A target man who can not only hold the ball up and bring the wingers and the attacking midfielder into play, but also score goals himself. Even if we sign Ade, I don't personally think he's quite good enough to play this role well enough to make this formation work. Sure, I think we'd be top 5/6 by playing it, but no more. If we signed someone like Llorente as well it would be a different story, but I think we'd continue to struggle against teams who park the bus by playing like this.

Unless M'Vila turns out to be good at carrying the ball forward too. From what I've seen he can pick out a pass, but as I said in a thread I created a week or two ago, we don't have enough dribblers in the side and getting rid of one of the very few in Modric and replacing him with someone who can't/won't run with the ball is not a good idea.

Hotel ITK

On a dark twitter timeline, I.T.K makes me glare
Warm smell of bullsh*t, makes me pull out my hair
Up ahead on NewsNow, I saw an enticing link
Spat out coffee, eyes popped out of my head
I had to browse and couldn't blink
There it stood between adverts;
I read the cryptics well
And I was screaming to myself,
"This could be factual or this could be fail"
Then I switched on Sky Sports, Jim White showed me the way
There were texts on my iphone,
I thought I saw them say...

Welcome to the Hotel In the Know
I want to punch their face (Want to punch their face)
Want to hurt with mace
Plenty of lies at the Hotel In the Know
Always twice a year (Always twice a year)
You will find them here

His mind is definitely twisted, he's got copy and paste
He got a lot of silly, silly blogs but not an ounce of taste
How they post with their comments, sickly sycophants
Why bother with this, he's not clairvoyant

So I called up the Phantom,
"Please who shall we sign?"
He said, "Blue yellow done and dusted he's one of a kind"
But I tell him to f**k off, I'm way out of line,
So I'm kicked off the forum by the admin
And I'm banned for life...

Welcome to the Hotel In the Know
They never get it right (They never get it right)
Make things up each night
They never commit at the Hotel In the Know
Always twice a year (Always twice a year)
I will always jeer

Luka, there's no feeling,
Hope you get head lice
Daniel Levy said "You signed a contract fool, keep you here for life"
And all our transfer targets,
Their clubs refuse to talk
Villas-Boas wants to sign Moutinho
But there's no pen we just stalk

Last prayer I remember, I cried
'Transfer deadline is here'
I had to pray for goals galore
Where is that forward Adebayor?
"Signed" said the chairman,
"Yes we've concluded a deal.
It's Jermaine Jenas on a long term contract,
you're not dreaming, it's for real"

lol brilliant as usual.

#Spurs have made official inquiry (not a bid) on Llorente - at the moment price too high. Potential deadline day transfer in my opinion.

@Alpha_Male_1: Im hearing rumblings that Damaio is a done deal. He has passed his medical and all what's left to do is how the fee will be paid

We cannot match Juve's wages nor their CL football offering - don't do this to yourselves, lads, the Lion's gone

even goal.com are quieter than usual.....fcuk, isnt it time for Levy to go on holiday, he always goes on holiday towards the end of the window

Llorente isn't as expensive as people think, especially as Adebayor isn't exactly cheap. But I still think he'll go Juventus #THFC

AVB must be so tinkled off. He wants a striker but probably now knows that Levy is not going to give him the massive funds to do so. At Chelsea he could have whoever he wants. Here he has to do with Kane. Fcuks sake.

Not sure how this is going to go down but someone just told me that... 'Its a cluster fudge of a shambles at your place at the moment mate'

Oh, I'd also add that Mourinho had the advantage when playing this system that he was the first manager to implement a 4-5-1/4-3-3 hybrid formation in the Premiership. Teams weren't really sure how to deal with it and he always had the advantage over teams that played a 4-4-2 because he had an extra man in the middle. Now far more teams play either 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 which cancels it out.

Doubt it. AVB would have known exactly what he had to spend when he took over, and unlike any of us knows what is really going on behind the scenes.....

I very much doubt his new club will sell on deadline day... because he will be at a new club by then.

but only Robben and Cole can dribble in that Chleski team which is pretty much like for like with our team (Lennon and Bale). Anyway i haven't seen m'villa much but yesterday i read comments from Marcel Desially bogging him up but starting that M'villa's problem is that he pushes forward often which actually made me happy to read. Maybe AVB sees him as a box to box midfielder that would emulate the Essien role? Sig is like for like with Lampard and Sandro/Parker play that dm role.

I said before we signed Sigurddson that maybe AVB plans to alter his system a bit and play like Mourinho did at Chelski. The M'villa signing as well as the sigurddson one indicates that this might very well be the case.

Of course he knows whats going on and not saying I know dude, just think Levy is a tight businessman. Have nothing to substantiate my claims, other than the no striker for 4000 years.....
