** FA Cup 4th Round - Tottenham Hotspur v Emirates Marketing Project **

Come on mate, we were playing the best team in the world for the last couple of seasons and missing Son, Sarr, Bissouma, a half fit Bentancur and a 10% fit Maddison (not to mention the likes of Solomon and sessengnon who’d at the very least give us the chance to not flog our first choice players in those positions). We were pretty crap and lost 1 nil, it happens sometimes.

Let’s judge the system on what we’ve seen so far, unless you think we should be beating this City side with the 18 man squad available tonight? In which case I would disagree with you.
Ange won't be giving them that cop out of an excuse, I hope he's letting them know it's unacceptable to play like that at home, regardless of opposition. That's all I'm saying.

When I think of all the over rated English midfielders who have been hyped to the heavens I can't understand how foden has gone so under the radar for so long.
He doesn't start for England that much, thinks that's part of it. I really like him but he's no De Bruyne and I don't think he's stepped up too well in KDBs absence. I think he's been a bit stagnant for a couple of years now, not really kicked on from being a very good player to a league beater.

One of Sarr and Bissouma would definitely have been back by the replay because if they both win their last 16 ties early next week, then they meet in the QF a week tomorrow.

But there is a chance all three of them could be back for Everton let alone the replay.

Ah I did incorrectly assume in that case, I haven't really been following it. At least we're getting one back soon then, silver linings and all that.

Weak is trying to take the tinkle out of the bloke who has us playing the best football we have in years when we lose to one of the best teams in the world with a depleted first team.
Seriously, some people.
I'm not taking the tinkle, I love big Ange. But he's culpable when performances dip with the standards he's set so far. I hope he's letting every one of them know tonight is a massive opportunity missed and the performance was utterly unacceptable.

Edit: attacking performance in particular. Hojbjerg was great for 80 mins, the rest looked lacking motivation and ideas.

other than his mad minute near the end I thought PEH was outstanding

as much of the ball as we had, we didn't really create anything, Johnson, Udogie and Kulu held the ball for too long and we never made use of the good running from Werner

Doubt he’ll go to those extremes. I’m sure there are things you learn from that, at least I’d hope so, but ranting and raving about performances being “unacceptable” is just knee jerking.

These things happen to the best teams over the course of a season, City included, and there were lots of mitigating circumstances tonight. That doesn’t mean you don’t try and learn and improve but it should mean you don’t knee jerk.

Could have been a statement win, particularly at home. Huge opportunity missed.

Yeah that's how it's been with them previously. A Son or Kane or even a Lorente to pull something out for us.
Thinking about a physical presence from set pieces , even Veliz is missing. Surely a better option off the bench rather than Dane Scarlett. Injuries and absentees are still affecting us badly. Certainly more than City , needed to be the other way round

Could have been but it wasn’t. Losing to city isn’t exactly a shock or underachievement.

It’s disappointing for sure and we shouldn’t just shrug our shoulders and say “ah fudge it”. Likewise, I’d hope the players and manager don’t hang each other because of it and am sure they won’t. Learn from it.

I'm not really sure what you expect. The team we had out truly isn't good enough to beat City. The quality of the defenders meant we largely had them at arm's length but the midfield was filled with secondary options + Bentancur and our attack is meh outside of Son.

I said in this very thread that this attack would be fairly toothless, it's just lacking in presence and general quality.

So I guess the pressure now comes if we don't go on to make top 4... How does the season get classified if that's the trajectory we start to head in?

I'd be having a chat to Klopp on the sly
