Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

If that's the only reason then I would not be happy, I would like to have thought he got the job on merit fending off other candidates ... not just because munn wanted him.

I am saying that assuming he knows he's a good fit for the job and he rates his managerial style and football for Spurs, not giving his mate a job, but who knows.

It's already refreshing to have a thread on here with positive vibes (apart from the standard GB nonsense of course).

The four year contract shows a strong level of believe in what he can do and although it hasn't been what you'd call a swift appointment since Conte left Ange has got the whole summer to familiarize himself with the facilities / club.

It'll be fascinating to see how the shaping of the squad progresses but if it's not a total clear out hopefully fans myself included can see this as a fresh chance for players much maligned to show a better version of themselves to move on from what has been a rough couple of seasons apart from the run in for fourth place under Antonio.

No doubt there'll be a lot of bitter folks desperate to pile in if things don't get off to a blazing start but let's hope the fan base can show something resembling unity, it's maybe a bit rich coming from one of the biggest moaners / arguers on here, it's been a journey of learning about the pain of expectation, I just want it to be fun again and the new guy seems to have the right tools to take us in the right direction.

As a native Greek I never thought I would see the day a fellow Greek (yeah, I consider him Greek - he was born in Athens and moved to Oz when he was 5) would manage in the PL, much less Spurs.

I am so proud of what he has accomplished so far against so many odds and, even though he wasn't my first (or 2nd or 3rd) choice, I so look forward to him achieving great things with us. Him doing well with Spurs can be the catalyst for many more managers from "unknown" leagues to be given the chances that they deserve, but never get.

Make us all proud, Aggelos!

Am sure some will be here, but not starting as you say.

I'm more interested in which players haven't been playing much before but whch he can make something of due to complete u-turn in tactics - Gil, Reguilon perhaps, and I'd love to see Devine get a run pre-season as the change of approach should benefit him massively
Agreed we need to see some youth come through. Devine looks a talent that we need to keep hold of .

Reassuring that he therefore seems to have been the culmination of an actual plan and process that wasn't knee-jerk.
I have little doubt that we'd have taken Slot first if he was affordable, but I am gratified that our new manager doesn't appear to be the result of frenzied dashes due to repeated rejections. Despite the fear-mongering of some media and the gullibility/eager believing of a gobby online section of our fanbase.
Let's hope for unity and a bit of grace for the almost inevitable bedding-in period.

As a aside, is the rule that we're allowed to believe media reports when it backs up our own personal beliefs then?

I've seen posters shoot down people for quoting and taking reporting as having an idea of what's going on, then turn around a use media reports to justify their own point.

Slightly confused.
