It is of course possible that we already have a manager tied down but surely you would agree that is rather unlikely? I would've thought the budget that our new manager gets will depend quite heavily on what (if any) European competition we end up in. If we get into the CL then we may well have a decent budget, the Europa I think will see quite a small budget and Conference League or no Europe would probably see a sell to buy situation (seeing as we already have about £80m landing from Porro and Kulusevski's loans being converted to permanent deals. I don't think any 'top' manager would come in without knowing what their budget will be, so unless we've tied down somebody who wouldn't be high on the list of the big clubs I just don't see it.

No, Potter was on less than any of Poch, Jose or Conte, but they give £700M in players in a season and they are such a merry go round (way worse than us at hiring/firing) that no one even cares if you got fired there (Potter's reputation probably the big exception)

Tactically yes, but not personality wise. I don't think another arrogant aloof ungenerous character is what we/the squad need at the moment. I think everyone needs a warm nurturer who can bring people with them.

My question is more what makes Slot more ten Hag than de Boer?
ten Hag had his time in Germany, whereas Dutch league only managers can be a bit like Dutch league forwards.

Commonality? -> all motivator types, all nurturers (to your point)
Our squad is full of decent humans, doesn't seem they respond well to tactician/disciplinarian types

De boer never really improved ajax. Slot improved az and feyonord. Changed the way they play to his. To the extent az finished on the same points as ajax (with a fraction of the budget) and feyenord are now above them while also challenging in europe. He won the manager of the year last season over ten hag.
You can argue in the last couple of seasons he's done better than ten hag.

I was in Holland last week and went across the country. When talking football several people mentioned slot as being brilliant
Slot would probably be easier to get. Or at least cheaper. I know very little about him tbh and I’ve changed my mind on who I’d like us to hire at least 4 times by now. But I’d hope whoever it is fits the profile of up and coming, plays attacking football, flexible and tactically astute - and wants to be here.

My initial expectation is that it'll be harder to 'sell' us to Nagelsmann than to Slot.
And I don't think we need a manager who doesn't very quickly view us as the right move for him as well as us seeing him as the right candidate.
Of course, Nagelsmann may well see our situation as one that IS right for him, having just been burned by a huge club with politics and big names attached.
De Zerbi may be open to a quick move and might not yet have huge feelings of loyalty to Brighton but will likely be very expensive - the revelation that Chelsea had to cough up over £20 million to take Potter and his team is a fairly strong indicator that we would need to fork over significant wedge to get his replacement out of there.
Not a huge ego and gets on with people.
