Kindle books

I know there was a thread on this, but for the life of me I can't find it so I'm starting a new one.. I'm thinking of getting a Kindle and want to know where I can download books from? Obviously I want the latest ones available at the "right" price... I seem to remember Bolt being mentioned but can't seem to register there. Anywhere else?

And does it have to be in the Kindle format?

.mobi is kindle format files

kindle store books are actually dirt cheap anyway, most novels tend to only be a fiver opposed to 7.99 dead tree versions

tuebl.com is a great site, the format is epub, these can be reasily converted to .mobi with calibre ebook management (freeware)
