I'd be very surprised Steff if the club makes any announcements about outside investments or funding of this project before deals have been signed and sealed with the people that win the many tenders that will be there to be won.

We want this done as cheap as possible, saying we have x amount funding/investment would be buisness stupid, people shouldn't expect any announcements anytime soon IMO.

Does it really work like that (outside of the transfer market)? I just can't imagine that some huge international construction company would be going... '"Bang an extra 20 mil on that John. They're bloody minted!"

Might it not be better for the club to wait until much, if not all, of the Olympic bally-hoo has died down before making stadium announcements?

Look at how jammed the sports calendar is right now - just had Wimbledon, Tour de France is on, Open golf this weekend, plus opening of Olympics. A Spurs stadium announcement would get swamped by these overlapping events. Wait a fortnight or a month and an announcement of that the new stadium build will commence will carry far greater resonance and earn better and longer play in the mainstream media.

Then again, a certain 'Fran' in Spurs PR once told me that the club don't give a toss for other newsworthy events. In a congested media environment, they see the need to put their message out there as soon a possible. So who knows, eh?

I would have thought a 400m development should be big business for potential constructors in this climate. They will have to be competitive if they want to win it and make no mistake this will be a huge contract.
 
What capacity do you think the new stadium should have?

I hope we go bigger than the original 56000, but not more than 60000. Would be nice if they made it easy to expand to lets say 70-75000 if needed.

Edit: 60362 would be good :lol:

Around 60 will be fine.

Like you say should be built so that it can be easily expanded in the future.

Not seen anything on that, is expansion being factored into the design plans?
 
Haven't seen anything about it either. Will probably be revealed when the OA is on the OS. Or when its finished...somebody always knows something :p
 
I don't think future expansion capabilities were included in the stadium plan. I'd imagine it would be very difficult to pull off anyway, due to the location and the committed public space around it. Perhaps marginal improvements to the tune of one to two thousands seats with the addition of an extra tier or something might be possible, but certainly not a 15,000 seat extension.

I thought we would have the full stadium in 4 years, so 3 more years in WHL and then 1 in the 3/4 stadium
 
Because the southern end of the new stadium will be where the Paxton stand is today and probably on a part of the current pitch as well.

Finishing will require the demolition of the current stadium, and perhaps is necessary to have the new stadium ready to go for the following season.

Because I'd imagine that there will be more seats in the new 3/4 completed stadium than in the old stadium and because the new south stand is being built on top of the Paxton.
