Next Manager?

hmmmm is this Ajax trying to protect him and be able to extract a larger fee from Levy? That said, you wonder why Ten Hag would sign it if he was interested in the Spurs job given that if we have to pay more to get him, it'll result in less for him or less to spend when at Spurs

Its possible of course, actually likely, that these contract negotiations have been in play for a few weeks rather than any reaction to speculation around him

Not ideal though

What do you mean Milo?

We know that we have a long list of candidates. He might have been our first choice but the point of having a long list is to find out who is interested and who is the best fit. He's doing a good job at Ajax, it is a big club, it is understandable if he has weighed up his options and decided that he is better off staying there.

Haha - I see the prospect of not getting anyone you want while Levy haggles over 75 pence for Sissoko remains as attractive as ever. :p

If there's any consolation, everyone and his dog turning Levy down is usually what leads to half-decent managerial appointments. So maybe we really will get Rangnick or Gallardo - although I pity them in turn when they ask for players to be shipped out and Levy spends 17 months haggling over 50 pence to avoid losing his 'keen negotiator' reputation.

Jesus, I thought he was a shoe in.

It’s going to be Southgate or Martinez, isn’t it? :(

I’d go for Rangnick in that case.

I was saying I'm not sure that he was our first choice. He clearly was courted as they have moved quick to sign him up to a new deal, but (and I thinkkkk we may be agreeing on this) he is just one of a selection of managers we could consider. I doubt at this stage we had a first choice. I don't hire people like that, I interview them all and then decide.

Yes, I thought it was near certain that if he ended up being at the top of our list, he would be very gettable. Maybe he's angling for a move to a bigger/richer club long-term after a few more years success at Ajax?? Not sure I see him getting a bigger one though...

I assume we'll still try to speak to him, but then its Potter and Allegri IMO

Potter and Allegri are bottom of the barrel stuff.

Who is above them, apart from Rodgers and ETH?

Allegri was successful at Juve and had skillful players in his teams as was as old-fashioned Italian style defenders. I'd much prefer him to a bunch of the names floating about. At least he's achieved something and might help attract players
