Daniel Levy - Chairman

Is there?
Both employ large number of low paid employees
Both work in a relatively decent margin business
And both are global brands

You make around 200k a year running a McDonalds franchise

Meanwhile Levy gave him a bonus of £3m. Levy already owns a huge percentage of ENIC.

One can afford to continue paying £300k a month or whatever to the employees that are on the living wage. The other can't.

You make £300k on what turnover? It’s all about ratios when running a business

and that bonus was awarded last season

If fudging Bournemouth and West Ham can afford to fully pay their employees why can't we?

West Ham don’t employ anyone of note as their council funded for most of their staff ain’t they?

Bournemouth probably employ about 20 people too

but neither pays tax as they lose money

And the answer to the McDonalds question was?

And it ain’t like their directors don’t get paid a fortune either

True, but I can't defend what we're doing, though. Arsenal have done the right thing, we have not. West Ham have done the right thing, we have not. Brighton, Burnley, Crystal Palace...

...this is wrong, mate. And as for the point you made yesterday re: being a net contributor in terms of taxes, so what? I would suspect the majority of middle class people are (and above), the majority of viable businesses are - almost all of them less financially loaded than super-rich fudging Tottenham Hotspur.

We can do without. We don't have to stiff the taxpayers and screw our own staff.

We can be better. We don't have to go down this squalid route, and be like Sports Direct's Mike Ashley. This shouldn't be what we, as a club, think is acceptable behaviour.
You couldn't be more wrong. Anyone (or any business) that pays taxes should do everything they can to minimise what they pay and maximise what they get back.

The govt will only spaff it up the wall on tracksuit families and giving triple heart bypasses to fat clams.

The first a lot of people heard about their pay cut was in the media unless they were checking their emails every 5 minutes

This part is another absolute disgrace

"non-playing employees have also been encouraged to take their annual leave during the coronavirus crisis."

No holidays this year mate, you got a holiday during an international pandemic stuck inside all day.

Is that an article you have to be registered to read?

Sadly, for me more "rubber meets the road" stuff here mate.

We saw it in November, and now we're seeing it again.
Billyiddo captured the greater scheme of things, and in that regard, the club should be doing all it can to help the bigger picture, as should our squad and coaching staff.
Look at what some NBA players have done in the US?!!!
Look at what a few of the owners have done?!!!
I don't rake it in but have made sure to do what I can where I can (tip takeout like dine in, paid for a haircut I won't receive and will do so again if this drags out).
If everyone proportionately did what they could then we'd be OK.
I don't see anything in that statement as suggesting we are "doing what we can" to even 50% of what is possible.

I am learning -painfully- that elements of what this club means to me (and stands for) appear to be abstract concepts in the overall view of many.

Burkinshaw's words echo again...

What should the club be doing?

The players who take most of the cash out don the club are currently doing zero
And don’t forget people have been complaining that we haven’t spent money and won’t spend money
So when the club does something to mitigate it like many many other companies have
And they also do load some the community which wins awards and that quickly gets forgotten
And they also give the NHS use of the facilities
And of course they pay tax unlike a lot of clubs as they make a profit

Yes.
There is a huge difference.
Come on are you joking?
How ?
I’ve worked for huge companies and they will
Furlough their staff
Companies far bigger than Tottenham are doing just that
And please don’t say we have players earning xxx as the club can’t do anything to make them take a pay cut without that player leaving for free due to a breach of contract
Id love to see the fans reaction then
Sorry guys we asked Kane to take a pay cut for a few months. He has left to go to united on a free...

Im very interested to see how they start to recoup some of all the money that is going out at the moment.

Politically they cant really touch the low paid, it would be suicide to go after pensioners as that is their core vote. I cant see what they can do except let the debt get bigger and bigger. That might be more and more traction given to countries equalising each others debt.

That’s all they can do

That’s all they can do

Think at some point in the future some of the western countries might get together and try to equalise each others debts even if it meant bankrupting some of the banks. Might not happen in this crisis but in a future banking crisis. I have been reading some blogs on this and even some intellectuals have been starting to suggest this. Even if your credit takes a down grade the are some upsides to it.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

It shouldn't be forgotten that we are one of (if not) the only PL club(s) that actually has a "viable business model", most of the other clubs are merely playing with debt or the money of benefactors, it's far easier in that situation to take the seemingly selfless act.

We have to play by the same rules as normal companies, because we are a normal company, and we'll have to keep in dialog with our bank(s) regarding our methods of financial prudence.

They've got to pay the bonds out.

Has anyone got a table which shows how much tax premier league clubs have paid over the last few years?
