Also the term 'non-playing directors' in a strange one. Do we have directors that play for the club?

I'll be honest, my initial response was "fudge this, I'm so done with football".
I took a few minutes to consider it, logged on here and saw opposing views (which surprised me - I thought my initial reaction was sound) and thought about it more

I just assumed it was bad drafting, and should read "...to reduce the remuneration of all...non-playing employees and of all directors...".
The use of "non-playing" being used just to re-enforce that this does not impact the players.

If they froze all payments from top to the bottom where possible, it would help out the economy alot. Act as if this month never existed, i am no expert but peoples monthly bills could quite easily be frozen, phone bills, tv bills, mortgages / rents, Gas and Electric same with small businesses freeze all rates.

It was more the blanket approach to reduce high earners and low earners equally by 20% and no reduction from the millionaire players that would solve that issue.
But as I think this is a pressure statement, I'm fine with it.
If the players don't take a cut to contribute to the staff then I will be done.
I think they will. But it shouldn't take this long.

it’s levy being brave or stupid here
he is effectively forcing the players publicly yet again lots are say there seeing it as Levy not taking a cut and the club should stump up via levy and Lewis (I don’t mean people on here, people in teletext)

You can apply for it. Lot of paperwork and no guarantees from what I understand. Plus this is likely to go on for longer than three months.

my wider point really mate is if your (i mean anyones) work keep paying you in full, you may have no job to go to. There is a domino effect to the financial fall out and we'd all rather someone else takes the hit.
The reality (especially in this all encompassing situation) is we all have to think what hit we can take. We take a bit in wages, the credit card/overdraft stop fees and charges, utilities hold on chasing bills, the mortgage can be put on hold, bt/sky make it easy to cancel, business vat and corp tax deferred etc we all gotta bend and be flexible while keeping an eye out for the real sufferers.
of course much of this will end at the Gov door and some coronavirus tax for 10 years will probably be forthcoming to 'balance the books'.....and of course we should all be alright with that.
The rich though (eg prem footballers) should be happy with nothing. If you have built up wealth.....just live off it for 6 months (you might feel better about yourself
