They were clearly setting him up for something - there's been a lot of stories lately about how he's a complete nightmare to work with. The bad guy setup started months ago.

No it's not. Exploiting his senior position, sure. Inappropriate workplace behaviour, yep. Possibly a bit #metoo.
But grooming is a very specific accusation describing the process of convincing a minor to engage in sexual activity against their will. I'd be very careful of using that term where it doesn't fit the facts if I were you.
