Not looking great. I would rather watch Mourinho do his kind of football than this mishmash (football with a DM and a good shape). I think he might feel he has something to prove attacking-wise. There are so many long balls too (they are getting that bit right). These players do better with the ball on the floor.

Worries me that he has been laying into our defence, seems to be continuing his narrative from Man U. Usually when a manager comes in they don't start laying straight into their charges.

This is his football, defenders/midfield behind the ball, long ball played to 3 or 4 attackers and hope they create a goal between themselves.

Didn't anyone watch his United team?

We are toilet. We need some serious work on this squad , Levy needs to open up his wallet.

We started this game with Lucas and Sissoko as the wide forwards and Aurier and Sessegnon full backs.

That used to be Rose, Walker, Son and one of Eriksen/Dele/Lamela.

We have too many fringe players in the starting 11 on a regular basis.

Sess is clearly not ready.
Aurier just not good enough imo, defending or going forward.
Lucas should be used as an impact forward.
Sissoko should really be nowhere near a forward role.

I don’t see any identity, plan or style.

Alright ladies, we’re not that bad. Just need to pass the ball more. Too many long balls. Then two mistakes cost us - Toby slipping and Verts not scoring from 5 yards.

That has nothing to do with pace, toby dived in when he should have stood him up, he was always going to Robbie Keane him.

You have a point but he's also completely off balance because he's struggled so hard to get back. When Ings flicks it, Toby literally can't stop himself. A van Dijk doesn't have that problem I'd bet.

It isn't his football - I would have taken his football, because our brainless defenders would have done better with it.

He's picked a team where six players are attacking at any given time- Aurier and Sessegnon down both flanks, Eriksen, Dele and Lucas in the middle, Kane up front. Sissoko goes up a lot too, to make it seven. Eight with Lo Celso.

This crap is down to the m.orons on the pitch.
Not his selection.

Exactly regards fringe players. Only way to correct that is with signings.

Good talking point from the Norwegian half time studio - why doesn't VAR even check the first penalty claim by Dele? On the replays it looks like he was fouled twice! Should at the very least be looked at.

I’ve watched all his teams other than Porto
He played very good attacking football at Chelsea and Madrid and set league records for goals

Why the fudge didn’t we sign Maddison
Cos we don’t like to sign players with Premier League experience, otherwise they might settle straight into the team which would never do!

Pochettino probably enjoyed Grealish’s screamer earlier too.

Starting to fear we should have gone absolute balls out to get Brendan Rodgers.
Leicester are utterly light years ahead of us. It’s bloody humiliating.

This is now embarrassing!
there little to choose between Poch’s and Jose’s resent sides!

EDIT this was written while having a hissy fit:)

Can't agree. He's not that good and that'll be proven before the end of the year. And he's an insufferable prick. Give me Jose every day of the week.
I hope you’re right. At the moment he has Leicester playing good entertaining and winning football and are absolutely miles ahead of this clueless static / kiddies kick and rush we’re being choked with. I know which I’d prefer we were getting.

As rubbish as it was, football games swing on moments. Stay in the game, get one and momentum swings

It certainly swung for Soton when we were denied a clear penalty for the foul on Dele. The contact is clear for everyone to see on the replay. His feet are swept away from under him.

I would like to hear why the VAR team decided to not look into that - or if they did, I'd like to hear them argue why that isn't a penalty. Why even bother with video refereeing when clear and obvious fouls are overlooked?

Because we had Eriksen who plays there and was better

I may be thinking more about his earlier teams which at least functioned well.
