Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Don’t go there mate. I did a while back and it didn’t end well.

ah come on mate, you were quite comfortable when I was a lone voice, and receiving many pelters on here for expressing my views on poch.

why should we stick with a manager who was talking of leaving us before a ucl final? there’s not one decent answer I’ve heard to that question but your welcome to try.

our away results are not any worse than should be expected.
No wins in 12 means that your expectation is that we are a mid table team at best. I thought Poch was paid £8m a year because we aspire rather higher than that....

So you don't think we need to replace rose or Sissoko (neither of which you have a good word for), Wanyama who is perma crocked, Eriksen who is totally disinterested, or Toby who has dropped below his peak?
Interesting.
Sissoko was a mistake in the first place - that happens to all clubs, we're not unique in that regard.

Rose isn't the only left back at the club, neither is he the best. I'd be rid because he's a little prick, but he's a better 2nd choice than most can play.

Wanyama has needed an upgrade since long before the stadium build started costing us.

Toby is still our best defender and it's Poch's job to make Eriksen perform.

I totally agree our overall firm has been shocking and we should be beating those teams.
Our away form is being isolated and is now a distraction. In reality our away results are not any worse than should be expected.

our away form not any worse than should be expected????

????

But poch said we need to act like a big club, Saudi Sportswashing Machine have a better away record than us THIS SEASON, as do Brighton....

????

the season isn’t over yet. It’s just over a quarter of the way through.

good though to see you’re able to stick with someone when the going gets tough, rather than discard when it looks like things are getting hard.
That sounds like emotion talking - there's no place for that in sport.

Again cherry picking, if you are going to quote my posts then please quote the whole post or the context, THIS SEASON.

Poch may have turned down Real, but unless he gets some wins on the board soon, imho his achievements are irrelevant. Hopefully Dele returning to form will spur an upswing in our fortunes. I hope so because Levy won't back a Mourinho type with the cash for players he would demand, and young "up and coming" managers are no guarantee of success. Besides wouldn't it be very very nice to watch us play well again in the PL?

So let me see, you agree that for various reasons they aren't good enough, that's right isn't, but we don't need a refresh.

OK so if you want to focus on this season Glasgowspur, our goal difference is 1. Just 3 wins out of 11. And losing to Colchester and being thumped at home by Bayern. Call it a blip if you like but if it were to carry on, the manager's job is unsustainable - surely you would agree with that?

Nigey,

I have offered several detailed reasons over several posts. I think they’re very decent answers/reasons but I am guessing you don’t. Which is all good. It is what it is. We disagree and that is cushty, life as it goes.

I must admit that yes, you did get pelters. I disagreed with you then, and I think it is fair to say that once we established our discussion wasn’t going any further, we agreed to leave it.

Naively I am hoping for the same here, but probably my own silliness as this is an internet forum!

Taking results like Colchester and Bayern are misleading, the general trend is down.
No one that I've seen on this board is saying anything else, the issues is why and what should be done about it.

At this moment in time I can see no issues that a new manager is going to come in and fix, not until January and the window opens.
Even then I would give poch the rest of the season.

Some aren't but we already have better players than all of them. Poch should have known over 2 years ago that Sissoko, Wanyama and Rose needed replacing.

In order to challenge for the title we need to improve on a few squad players - no different to any other year and something Poch should have had in hand years ago.

This team should still be finishing top 3 at absolute worst

dropping the below quotes here. There can be absolutely no doubt that Poch has wanted to rebuild for some time. This then leads into the question of why he continues to play these players, and I think a few of us have tried to explain that if these players are here, they need to be used. It protects the players coming back from injury, it protects youth players from being over exposed, it allows foreign imports the chance to settle in without too much pressure, and it means we don’t both fail to get any money from any club and also not play them anyway.

“To be successful or win titles, you always need to improve,” Pochettino said ahead of Wednesday’s match against Watford. “You can’t keep doing the same, and in every transfer window, you need to say, ‘Okay, how can I improve the team?’

“Sometimes it’s about improving your structure, your facilities and sometimes it’s a moment to invest in the team.

“But sometimes — and it’s so painful — you need to say, ‘OK, I love this player, he helped us arrive at this level but now, if we are going to achieve another level, we need to improve and we need to bring in another player.

“The only way we can reach the next level, and win titles, is by improving, improving, improving.

“We’re all getting older. The players can get more mature but at some point, they need another challenge, another experience, another goal, as always happens in life, and we need to be open to improve.”

I let quite a lot go before, because we’re talking spurs and it arouses passionate debate/responses, occasionally we are all guilty of getting carried away and perhaps crossing some mystical line we shouldn’t in defending or promoting our opinions.

it’s a forum and in simple terms just words on a screen, so I try not to get too downbeat, and I’d advise the same.

But it’s always better if people think your a splendid gentleman rather than a bit of a git.

I know your a very positive gentleman and you hate negativity around the club you love. But if we’re just talking in the realms of this season, I think people have as much right to gripe about poch as they do to say he has credit in the bank and to stick with him.

So he sees there's a problem and has done what about it?

Let's not put aside the fact that even without the "refresh" you claim he needs, we should still be 3rd at absolute worst.
