Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Answer my question.
What experience has he got at the level and situation we find ourselves at?
He's getting more and more experience at this level with us, encountering new problems as he goes along. He had no experience managing a team in the CL, yet he hasnt fared too badly there has he? He makes mistakes, he infuriates me with some things he does but the question is does he learn from them. This will be his first proper rebuild with us and he's experiencing things he's never had to deal with before. Its all part of the ride. We were happy to idolise him when all is going well, like a young player who has inconsistencies in performance you cant expect a young manager to not have the same. I might not like his lack of pro activeness in subs, I might not agree with his tactics in certain games but for now Im prepared to accept his short comings. Because he is an intelligent guy who I bet is learning from this turbulent period, and there is something brilliant about him that I just cant dismiss right now. This can be turned around this season, and it doesnt necessarily mean a new manager.....

His ability to learn is probably second to none of all the Spurs managers i have known in my lifetime, and there springs hope eternal..

The experience one would expect for a manager of his age and level of club he has worked at.
What else can he have?

Exactly!
He is struggling to cope/sort it because it is new to him/out of his depth.
Now you touch yourself and takes your choice.
Sack him or ride it out.

Levy and his people are the only people with enough knowledge of Pochettino to call this.

The temptation for me is sack but I think that's because I just want (quicker fix) to stop the rot and turn the page.
We could let him arse about and still have to sack him in December

I know exactly what you mean, last season has almost worked out like a Trojan horse for us, united and the scums bigger failings meant we scrapped 4th, with the luck of the champions league run on top it literally was like putting a sticky plaster over a haemorrhage, I think that’s where a lot of debate is coming from and the not seeing this downward spiral has been for a year.

Yes. He has no experience in the squad regeneration situation with elite players (and that's what they think they are) at a top European club.
Name one manager with Poch's experience in the last ten years who have done it, I couldn't think of one? Ranieri;)?
He has done well. He will be a better manager for what he's going through.

It's not often top clubs have to go through a regeneration like we are looking at - what managers would you use as an example that have done so recently?

Yup. He’s one of the most adaptable managers around, which is to me why he’s a strong leader, and one of the best. Most managers are good for a stage or a particular context, he’s shown he’s been able to move up. This quality to me suggests he will continue to do so. And letting him go would be our mistake - losing a rare talent.

Oh bleep....just when you thought things were starting to heal...Danny Boy wont like this bad PR - regardless of if true or not:(

If more 'leaks' from people assumed to close to Poch like this keep appearing it will only end one way imo...:(

I've no real interest in blame.
It's what can be done to fix this.
-Get rid of Levy so Poch can bring in 11 new players. Levy can barely sell players at the best of times. He is not gonna ship out 10 or 11 on the cheap.
-Or get rid of Poch

What not gonna fix it is shipping 4 or 5 out and the rest suddenly get behind a manager that doesn't even watch training anymore.

The reality is Levy is not going anywhere and will wait until enough fans are sick of the results that they will be onside with a Poch sacking.

So it's been poor form since new year last season and this season.

It's not like we had a brief fling with being in the mix with the best. We were up there for 3 seasons...why wasn't he struggling to cope then (in fact he was overachieving)...it's the same level/prizes we're aiming for now.

If he is struggling to cope with anything it's probably fans expectations.

The club was overachieving from a financial point of view, he was not overachieving with the squad at his disposal relevant to the rest of the league, United arsenal have got themselves into a state, Chelsea have had random seasons, at the end of 16/17 we were the best team in the league, at the end of 17/18 we were ahead of Liverpool.

Whatever the reasons that halted the progress is a different discussion but he certainly did not overachieve in those three seasons you are speaking of.

Yep...no one thinks he's overachieved.

Pochettinos mate has his say, 13:30 into the video.

Short version : blames Levy.

Question is is it his view or someone else?

Thing is levy is to blame, as is poch and the players.
I honestly don't think this is one big massive unsolvable problem. Its a combination of little to medium ones that should have been sorted as they come up.
Instead we've looked at them and thought things are rolling along, we are getting by and we can organically resolve these.
We were wrong, issues we thought we would resolve themselves in their time haven't and its had a knock on effect.

I agree theres no single thing to blame.

Which is why I think its unhelpful Balague (in particular, given his Poch affiliation) is drawing such lines in the sand.

Why are so many people deluded about how good our squad was, and while not as strong still is,.

The sad fact is that our CBs are aging, one LB does not want to be here, one RB none of us want here, our two DMs are perma crocked, eriksen is having some kind of crisis, Hugo has turned into Mr bean.
Any one of those circumstances is not good, put it altogether and you are left we the sorry state that we are just now.
