Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

Thanks Trevor, good post.
For me I just see Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position, Aurier out of position,

Being very vague mate.

Naughty step for Sissoko next? Not sure Poch will like him criticising the tactics to the press, especially before the team regrouped today.

Poch did say a while ago about having respect for Wenger and wanting to emulate him. Seems he's skipped the winning things phase and gone straight to the getting raped by Bayern and exiting cup competitions to lower league teams who appear more up for it.

I'm not hugely downbeat as it looked like things were going to head this way, the squad is not balanced. Added to this key players looking like leaving for nothing and as greatly discussed, this whole diamond thing isn't working and has never done. I miss seeing us play with an actual midfield, the line up at the end of last night's match was as if a 12 year old had picked it...And Aurier, it's not really surprising to see him picked after almost costing the team so dearly on the weekend, that in itself is worrying.

Well, brick. If players are briefing journos that they don’t understand why a certain system is being played, it’s a real shot. Poch has so far done everything to keep the players on side and there seems to be leaking out. He’s said he isn’t going to bomb squad like he did in his first year but surely he has to if this is happening?

And bloody hell, Sissoko could probably be a bit more tactful. I’d be interested to see if anything has been lost in translation there but the Manager has stuck by him, played him into form and helped him recover his career. Probably not the best thing to do to be complaining about tiredness because of one formation.

Or, you know, he could change the system...

If he plays the diamond vs the seagulls his song will probably be sung in the stands with the word ‘magic’ swapped out for ‘tragic’...

Fair play to Sissoko...the last week has been humiliating for the players and the fans, he’s only saying what everyone on this planet can see, other than Mopo and his coaching staff!

I’d be a lot happier if Sissoko wasn’t speaking publicly. It is pretty clear the players are uncomfortable with the system! I personally don’t need him saying it publicly.

Something has to make him see bloody sense and shelve his stubbornness.

After a humiliating week of results, exempt Soton... the last thing I’m worried about is us airing our grud stained laundry in public mate.

fudging hell

"Sources have told ESPN FC that some senior players are not happy with the tactical systems, starting with the diamond midfield 4-3-1-2, recently used by Pochettino. It enables Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane to play together up front but the midfield is more exposed, as are the flanks, and Spurs have only kept two clean sheets this season (against Crystal Palace and Colchester) in 10 matches in all competitions.

Then there is the flat 4-4-2, also used this season, which left Tottenham too weak in central midfield, as we saw against Arsenal. Against Bayern, Pochettino started with a 4-3-1-2 and then moved to a 4-4-2 after 30 minutes when his team started to struggle. Neither worked. "We get tired too quickly physically when we play with a diamond midfield," Moussa Sissoko admitted on French TV channel RMC Sport on Tuesday night.

The players also don't understand why Pochettino has told them to dial back the pressing, a tactic that was a success last season."

You would have thought the players would have known that we didn't play the press last season...

That bit is not a direct quote from a player - so I’d say there’s every chance it’s the journalist’s little addition to the story.

Id say as with most stories a journo has taken the quotes, in this case "we tired too quickly with the diamond formation" and added a whole load of stuff on top to pad out the article

Assuming the Sissoko story is genuine...

I know I’m down on him at the moment but I think Sissoko’s comments are a result of Poch’s utterances in the media over the last few months. In my job, I try to be at work on time all the time. I have a manager and other people at his level who turn up late. Guess what? I no longer make as much effort to be on time. It’s okay to be late. The principle is the same, the manager sets the tone.

Maybe Sissoko is p!ssed that Poch didn’t take an easy chance to talk him up re the contract situation the other day. Instead, he said something about the contract having nothing to do with him and being between the agent, club and player. Reading between the lines, maybe Sissoko thinks Poch has disrespected him. Throw Poch’s inference in that book that Sissoko was a Levy signing on top of events of the last week and maybe Sissoko is thinking “well f**k this, the man doesn’t rate me. Well I don’t rate his tactics.” On top of that, Poch has washed dirty linen in public. “I’m not the manager, I’m the coach”, “there are different agendas in the dressing room”, “this isn’t my best squad of players”. So now it’s okay to wash your dirty linen in public. So Sissoko has had a pop and I’ll bet we’ll see more leaks, even if not quite this blatant, coming out soon.

I also note that the people who infer Poch is playing some game with the press and doesn’t mean what he actually says aren’t affording Sissoko the same excuses.

This is a sign Poch has lost the dressing room. He sets the tone of what’s acceptable and what’s not. And he has set a pretty lousy tone over the last few months.

Levy should get rid now.

Take your pick, we have all the flavours here

Tottenham's Belgium defender Toby Alderweireld, 30, has admitted the side have hit their lowest point for five years. Pochettino's side are 10 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two Colchester and were thrashed 7-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday. Journalist being journalists they don’t have a clue but have to sell copies, each journo has made a story up in their heads that can be passed off as having a element of truth to it that they think will help accomplish this.

Spurs boss Pochettino held clear-the-air talks with shell-shocked players after Bayern Munich mauling

MAURICIO POCHETTINO held clear-the-air talks with his shell-shocked stars after their 7-2 thrashing by Bayern Munich.

And the Tottenham boss told them to forget all about Tuesday’s second-half collapse — and remember only the first half.

Poch’s men suffered the worst ever defeat by an English club in Europe.

And the Argentine summoned his squad, who have won just three of ten matches this season, for talks at training yesterday.

An insider said: “It was calm and no tea cups were thrown. The gaffer said he was happy with the first 45 minutes — and wanted us to remember that going forward.

“Of course he wasn’t happy with conceding three goals in the last seven minutes.

“But he clearly thinks it was a freak result and doesn’t want us to dwell on it too much.”

The thrashing leaves Spurs with one point from their opening two Group B games in the Champions League.

And defender Toby Alderweireld told his team-mates to come out fighting — starting with Saturday’s trip to Brighton.

The Belgian, 30, said: “Sometimes you’re in a corner where you get slapped but you just have to fight a way out.

“Everybody knows this group of players cares. We’ve been in difficult situations before and every time we’ve come out of it.”

Tuesday’s defeat will only ramp up speculation over the future of Pochettino, who has been linked with Real Madrid.

But Massimiliano Allegri, rumoured to be Spurs’ top pick to replace him, wants to wait until the end of the season before picking a club.

The out-of-work former Juventus boss was at their Bayern game and is already learning English as he fancies managing in England.

But Allegri does not want to join a club mid-season having quit the Turin giants this summer.

If you have to hold two "clear the air" talks in as many weeks with those working for you, you're probably not doing your job properly.
