That because the rules on VAR aren’t being implemented as expected. Refs are not being over turned as a matter of choice
That’s not how we were told it would be implemented and it’s my favourite buttplug TBH
The English ref last night in the Madrid game went to the monitor... he made the right call and was backed up by VAR

Like Finney said, it probably wouldn’t have been as many as 18 points. Take the non penalty that should have been given against us for Emirates Marketing Project. Should have been a penalty all day long.

There is video and statistical evidence that shows your claim of them being a long ball team is bogus. I’m not saying they never play a long ball but then so do a lot of teams. Like I said previously, Toby to Alli was a useful long pass/ball tactic we employed at certain times that lead to numerous goals and chances created. They certainly cross the ball a lot but when you’ve got arguably the best left back in the world and possibly the best crosser of the ball in the world currently at RB then why wouldnt you?

You mean the one for us?
It was something like 18 for them and city lost 3 in total IIRC
They gained some and lost others but generally they won by more than one goal so often it made little difference

I think the key with their “long ball” is it’s wide long balls
I’d describe their style almost as kick and rush. Get the ball forward and pile forward to encourage errors from the opposition
They bypass midfield as their best technical midfielder is Wilnaldum

Its called playing with pace and urgency and it work very successfully for both top teams including us, on the odd occasion.
I loath much about Liverpool as a club but it would be churlish not to give them credit as they are far better than us and most as much as that hurts!
Some on here are in denial!

They make a lot of crosses but that’s because they have two full backs with world class crossing ability. The stats prove they have more possession than us and the video I posted shows Klopp’s teams play attractive, direct, fast paced football. But people don’t believe stats or the evidence in front of them, there’s not much more that can be said if people still don’t want to give them credit.

As many others have said, I suspect it is because it’s Liverpool and people just don’t want to accept they are better than us. Much easier to just be in denial and claim they were lucky, refs helped them, they’re a long ball team etc.

Toby bypasses the midfield all the time. Exhibit A being our first goal on Saturday. Nothing wrong with being direct at times. You can’t always walk the ball into the net.

The stats you're talking about say nothing of the style of possession.

Lots of crosses doesn't make them a passing team - it makes their style more like Stoke than Barca.

Take it you saw our first goal on Saturday? The one where Toby played a long/direct pass to Son? The one where he bypassed our midfield. It’s a tactic we employ and it’s an effective one.

I don’t see what it matters what style of possession they have. The stats show they are not a long ball side. I honestly don’t think you’ve been watched them or his Dortmund side very much if the conclusion you have come to is they are a long ball team.

If you think finding single exceptions disproves a point then I think you need to take a step back and start working out how football works. No team exclusively plays one style at the expense of all others, but teams like Victimpool tend more than most to hoof into the channels.

The stats don't prove anything like that and continually repeating the point only belies your inability (or refusal) to understand them. If you'd like me to explain them to you again in simpler terms than I did a couple of pages back, please let me know.

Toby regularly pings long passes and bypasses our midfield so it’s hardly a one off.

I’m not saying Liverpool’s midfield is particularly creative, in fact it’s their weakest part of the team but to make out like they are cloggers like David Batty and Gareth Barry is wrong also. They’re better to watch than us and they’re currently a better side, sorry if you can’t accept that because it’s Liverpool. The league table this season and last season proves that. There’s no way we should be finishing 27 points behind them like last season and there’s no reason why we can’t overtake them if we seriously get our brick together. I haven’t seen much evidence lately though tbh, other than Saturday.

I would say Liverpool probably do indeed hoof to the channels more than we do. However we hoof it up the middle more than Liverpool do. It would seem that Liverpool's hoofing to the channels is more effective than our hoofing up the middle. Overall though both Spurs and Liverpool play decent football that is good to watch.

This In a nutshell. Both teams play a possession game, both teams play out from the back and both are good to watch. What can’t argued is they are more effective than us currently.
