Harry Kane MBE

Anyone else really miss the old Kane, bursting away with a little bit of acceleration, bullying players out the way, shooting more accurately etc. Just seems to be slightly off the pace and I don't know why. I remember 2/3 seasons back we played Huddersfield away and won 5-0 around this time of the year and for me that was peak Kane, very quick, great anticipation and looked really energetic and totally destroyed them and feels like those performances are less and less now.

He has done to much muscle work in the gym and his muscle twitches are not as fast. Happens with sprinters in cycling all the time.

Seriously think that MkI model Kane is gone now. Repeat ankle injuries, age and the fact that he was never a natural athletically.

I'd be surprised if he was to get 30ish goals again. At International level he'll be fine and obviously finishing he'll still be deadly but his removed role is starting to look less tactical and more a necessity.

He never seems to dribble towards goal nowadays. If he is a long way out he will simy lay it off, then if he is near the box he will try and get his shot off.

Remember when he used to run at defenders and they would bounce off him like against Chelsea a few seasons back

My thoughts.

He wants to win stuff, we are miles off that.

He could go to any club in the world, why would he stay at Spurs?

Never known a player who does not want to do just that, sadly there are supporters around who think some trophys are not worth winning. Never can understand that opinion. As you say Kane is good enough to win lots, can he do that at Spurs? i am sure he asks that question himself.

I’m sure he went well by it, but the manager saying we are miles off last year doesn’t help.

Also Walker winning pretty much everything at City doesn’t help us trying to keep players.

How often do you see Kane in good positions to score these days?
Spends alot of time on the edge of box trying to beat too many players (he isn't good enough for that at the top level) or wide of the box.

It's not surprise he doesn't get those cut backs anymore, his teammates are probably surprised he is there. Of all the players guilty of not respecting positional responsibilities, he has been right up there for over a year. (Ironically just not "right up there" on the pitch).

He needs a few hours watching where and how he scored in his first few seasons - that's his natural skill set. Start doing it again and stop thinking you are Messi.

It certainly feels like he has gone off the boil. I dont think he has had a good game this season. Of course he is still getting goals ( a few pens ) but he is not bullying defenders like he used to, is not running the space like he used to. Also his control seems a bit off at the moment. He can still finish, but the rest of his game is wide of the mark at present.

Tell you what, given that he is the best passer we have at the club (better than Eriksen) I am relieved he sometimes drifts out wide so as he can play those brilliant switches/through balls. I wish he would stay in and around the box, however given how little the likes of Eriksen are creating, he has been forced to drop in and off sometimes. He has been available for tap ins several times this season, not just on Wednesday.
