I don't think we were as bad as you are all saying. We started poorly, but after about 20 minutes we got a foothold in the game and from that point on it was an even game. Did you expect us to waltz over them at Stamford Bridge? They were always going to up for this game and they have good players there.

We switched off for the first goal and Alderweireld subsequently defended the situation very poorly. There is no point talking about the second goal. But all in all I think we were better tonight than in both the semi-finals against them. We did have two key players in Eriksen and Son who were very poor though.

I am very concerned about top 4 now though. The title was never on, but the gap to the teams below us is disappearing fast. We desperately need a win on Saturday. We have two games left away to Liverpool and Emirates Marketing Project that we can pretty much write off, so we are in trouble.

It was the first game under Poch where we didn’t have a shot on target. Bar 15 mins before half time, we were fudging abysmal.

That’s before you factor in the fact we were playing a team on the verge of combusting and should have reacted to Saturday’s defeat.

Utterly unforgivable. As unforgivable as it was brick.

I’m actually as annoyed at Aurier tonight as I was on Saturday.

His brickness means we’ve had to elevate Trippier, rather than keeping him as a willing #2 to kyle walker/Kyle Walker-esque replacement we thought we were getting!

It’s games like the last few in the league we really notice the hole Dembele has left.

We need Dier back too.

Crazy to think how many on here think Dier is rubbish yet now we asking for him back. My goodness it scares me the direction we are heading.

GHod help us if we don’t get champions league football next season.

Thought Davies started the mistake train, just let Pedro run
Rio Ferdinand thinks Davies made the right call to close the player with the ball and pass Pedro on to Toby

Pedro was running off the pitch, all Toby had to do was shepherd him wide, but he committed the cardinal sin, letting Pedro cut back inside the 6 yard box.

Key moment for me was when Davies got wide, cut it back for Kane and Lamela dived in the way yet didn't head it in.

It was a tight game. As soon as Toby made that mistake, they just sat deep in a 6-4-0

6-4-1 with Trippier spearheading their attack.

Sorry mate but I can't agree. We had what 1 shot on target? No intensity, No passion, poor movement, awful defending. This against a team who played 120 mins 24 hours after our last game. This in a London derby against hated rivals who have been struggling. If that does not constitute a poor performance not sure what does. I am furious tonight.

I hope we just go conventional 4231 that the players know and works with a press.
Totally agree.

We’ve lost all our pressing, quality passing, and also power and control of midfield. Full backs also poor both offensively and defensively.
Keeper is inconsistent.
Subs are all incapable of adding anything off the bench.

Bit of a brick show really.

I thought if Davies tracked the player then the player with the ball couldn’t have hurt us.

Then I thought now Pedro has it he can’t hurt us from where he is.

Then once Pedro had somehow got inside I though it’s still a big ask to score.

That’s why I said during the game that it was 3 errors.

I was out tonight and missed this game. Seems I was fortunate.

We must win against the goons, any win will do. Phuck that game up and the wheels could come off.

I'm in desperate need of some of Steff's positivity right now.

Sadly the tank is low tonight. Saving my energy to add my positivity and presence at Wembley on Saturday. I felt tonight was poor in many aspects, not the least of which was Eriksen’s power-puff and painfully average performance. His lack of coverage on that first go was symptomatic of his general malaise.

Someone mentioned he made Parker pirrys tonight, and I agree wholeheartedly.

Poch has a job to do.
We have lost conviction, our quality players are going mid-table and since Hazza returned every other has taken a breather. Son has also been neutered. He needs to find the answer to this problem quickly. Obviously Hazza is in, so he needs to find the formula. We miss Alli so much.

The other player we miss big time is Dier. Tonight we needed clams on deck ready to wrestle. Dier is so big in these games, and we also missed Jan big-time.

Finally, as is known here I love Poch unconditionally, but IMO, he needs to learn to have an experienced pro with medals in the squad who can lead by example and drag games and seasons over the line at this moment. Llorente doesn’t quite count. I’d like an old leader: there’s a reason Kompany and Milner continue to be big members of their squads...

Sadly I think that without something very different happening in midfield, Saturday will be more of the same. But the good news is that I reckon we will lose to Dortmund by just 2 and go through.
Well, you got to hope....
