We need a CM whether transfer or loan. Get one in. You don't need huge money to do a loan.
The challenge there is a smaller club won’t loan anyone to do us a favour so we are basically looking for someone who is out of favour and one of the European giants, who will possibly be on more thank Kane.

I agree we need to make some kind of extraordinary / contingency investment with 4 senior cms now out and 2 of them unlikely to play for us again, it’s not like the transfer fee is paid in one installment either

Every man and his dog can surely see that he is only any good with a back 3 to cover his arse all game, he cannot play in a 4 unless Sissoko is there to hold his hand. How many times in the 2nd half was Eriksen getting the ball, looking up and Trippier is miles behind the play, coz he stays back due to not having the cover anymore. He is too limited physically to play as a right-back in a back 4 for a team like us.

That’s what I’ve been saying for a long time now. If he plays it should be as right midfielder, where we can cover for his errors. As it is, if he makes a mistake, it is likely to cost us a goal. He cost us against both Manchester clubs this season. Plus other mistakes he has made. I assume Aurier is injured otherwise I’m baffled as to why he didn’t start.

It’s hard with so many injuries again

But united had plenty too so it works both ways

Have to say it comes down to taking chances

For me, it came down to how we dealt with the Sissoko injury. Some responsibility on Poch, as we didn't re-group, lost shape, left Tripper with no pass. If we'd got to HT, then I think we win that. You can blame Tripper but I don't think he played all that badly, though it was a poor pass.

Of course it will be a Man U love in now, but we had every chance to get something out of that game. I'm just glad Man U took so long to sack Mourinho, top 4 would have been a lot tougher if they had got rid of him earlier..

Anyway, you can't lump it all together and say our brick finishing was the reason for that.

It was a combination of brick finishing, bad luck, lack of composure at times and a fudger of a goal keeper.

All de Gea had to do today was take a plaster cast of his boots and legs up to the shins, then stick them in the middle of the goal.

The socks would have been really dirty by full time but hey, clean sheet!

We dominated that second half. We had enough chances to win. All the shots were straight at De Gea. We snatched at them all. We totally dominated that second half..

I've been saying this for a while, but that isn't an aberration - it's a feature.

Our playing style is to create quick chances, at pace, with the least amount of time and passes possible between getting the ball and shooting. It's the central aspect of gegenpressing - vertical transitions, high-speed chances.

Normally, it works like a charm, because defenses just aren't fast enough to react to that style of play. But when we play against the big sides and they have a lot of men in the box, their defenders are good, and quick enough to close down the space when we do fashion chances. So we have to snatch at them more, because they're arriving in shorter windows of opportunity.

We will still win a lot of games that way, but there's times when we won't, because a great goalie (like De Gea) can cover his angles well enough to deal with the snap-shots that result. Whereas, if we had a more patient, probing game, we might see fewer shots, but more quality ones, where the player receiving the ball has time to turn, run and stick it in the corner.

But that would involve drawing the likes of Manchester United on to us and then playing behind them, releasing runners on the counter (like Dele's chance). Or playing it side to side for 60 or so minutes, waiting for the right moment to spring a great chance. We do that less, because teams are wary of just that, and because (in the latter case) it doesn't suit our players.

Long story short, it's a feature. We will still win most games playing the way we do, but occasionally this happens.

What's important is to *not give chances away* at the other end. And today, one mistake (predictably, from Trippier) did us in, and turned a draw into a loss.

If it wasn’t man united it would be talked about being a smash and grab by a far inferior team. Rashfords finish was excellent and certainly no easier than a hatfull we missed. United will think they’ve turned the corner but they won’t get away with conceding that many chances / trying to score a 2nd in injury time and we won’t miss that many chances again.

It’s not the points or the imaginary title challenge that concerns me, it’s the potential loss of Kane and Sissoko for a few games
