Writing in a column evaluating the upcoming window for
Sky Sports, Lyle Thomas outlined the four players Spurs could look to bring in.
He said: “Tottenham need to move players out in order to bring any in, having submitted their Premier League squad a man short due to only having seven of the eight homegrown players required.
“Midfield is the area they are thought to be looking at most closely. They have been scouting for long-term replacements for Mousa Dembele, who is also out of contract at the end of the season, over the last 18 months and injuries to him, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier could force them into the market next month.
“They like players such as Abdoulaye Doucoure, Tanguy N’Dombele, Amadou Haidara and Donny van der Beek, and should they move on either Georges-Kevin N’Koudou or Fernando Llorente, then a space would open up for a non-homegrown player to come in.”
Tottenham identify first January transfer target and exciting young attacker ticks all the boxes
The Lilywhites could be set to make another swoop down the leagues for a future star
Tottenham Hotspur have serious interest in bringing young Hull City winger Jarrod Bowen to north London in the January transfer window,
football.london understands.
Spurs have sent scouts to watch the young English attacker, who turned 22 a fortnight ago, in every game he has played this month for Championship side Hull, and the Premier League club are hoping to repeat their success in bringing
Dele Alli up from the Football League by making a move for the attacking midfielder.
Bowen has already notched 10 goals this season from out wide on the right, including six goals and two assists in December alone to impress the watching Tottenham scouts.
He should soon pass his tally of 15 goals for last season, which earned him Player of the Year awards from the club and supporters, and Everton - managed by
Bowen's former Hull boss Marco Silva - and Leeds are among the sides also keeping a close eye on the young attacker with a January move in mind.
football.london understands Spurs have shown a serious interest in a player who is not cup-tied for the League Cup, so could feasibly feature against Chelsea in the semi-finals this month. If he misses Hull's FA Cup match at Millwall this coming weekend then it would also free him up in that competition going forward.
Most importantly
Bowen is English and with Tottenham targeting homegrown players in the January transfer window due to having too many 'non-locally trained' players in their team to fit into their Champions League squad, he ticks an important box.
Attacking trio Vincent Janssen, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Fernando Llorente are all expected to move on in the coming month and the departure of at least one of them is expected to trigger a formal move for
Bowen.
Offers up to £7m have previously been dismissed for the exciting young Hull striker, but a figure of under £15m could be enough to capture his signature.
While Bowen is happy at Hull and scoring freely, it is believed that a move to link up with
Mauricio Pochettino and his high-flying Tottenham side would be of interest despite the fact he would not immediately be a starter in north London.
Spurs' biggest issue is that if they do not move quickly when the window opens, other teams are circling who could offer Bowen more first team football this season.
At Tottenham,
Bowen would have to work his way into the team, competing with the likes of Heung-Min Son, Lucas Moura, Alli and Erik Lamela, although Son is due to leave midway through the month to play for South Korea at the Asian Games.
There is a belief that Bowen has the potential to become another English success story at Tottenham and for Pochettino. With his eye for goal, he could also be converted into a striker, similar to the roles the versatile Son and Lucas have been taking up, in backing up or playing alongside Harry Kane.
Tottenham have a reputation for leaving their transfer deals until late in the window, a tactic which saw them miss out on Aston Villa's Jack Grealish in a barren summer transfer window, and in the case of
Bowen they need to ensure he does not become another transfer regret as interest hots up in the talented young attacker.
Tottenham Hotspur are considered "below" Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, a source close to the player has told ESPN FC.
The 23-year-old's mother and agent Veronique said earlier this month that her son has taken the
"firm and definitive" decision to leave the French champions at the end of the season when his contract expires, while Barcelona have publicly
denied that an agreement is in place for him to move to Camp Nou.
The source said that Spurs, as well as Juventus, have been contacted and alerted to his January availability for €10 million after he informed sporting director Antero Henrique that he
will not be signing a new deal -- a move that means the player is "indefinitely benched."
However, on top of Rabiot's demands of a €10m annual salary, large signing-on fee and long-term contract loaded with lucrative bonuses, the source close to the player said that the player and his entourage have their sights set higher than the Premier League club -- an opinion likely to raise eyebrows in North London.
The source said that chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi is "irritated" by the negative developments in the Rabiot saga and the fact that the capital club look very likely to lose another top homegrown talent despite pulling out every stop to keep him.
However, Al-Khelaifi is said to be relieved at the prospect of no longer having to deal with Rabiot's agent and mother, who has been troublesome for the PSG board for a number of years.
With Juve yet to enter the January race for Rabiot despite keeping tabs on him earlier in the season, and the player unwelcome at senior level, the source added that a swift resolution to the situation looks unlikely.
Rabiot will probably be left at home when the PSG squad travels to Qatar in mid-January for the club's Winter Tour.
Coach Thomas Tuchel is currently
lacking midfield options ahead of Januaryand is having to get by with defender Marquinhos regularly playing in midfield, but said he respects PSG's owners despite the issue.
