*** Official Film Thread ***

Just watched the Wembley concert now cos I'd seen the trailer for the film and it kicked off all the nostalgia.
It is the only reason for a time machine to exist imo.. "Oi Freddy, take precautions!!"

Have to get to see the film, looks and sounds from you guys, awesome

Better to burn out than to fade away...

He could easily have become a Gary Glitter (fat, bald and age of consent issues) with another 5 or 10 years

Cage's acting is superb, and...
the final scene is brilliant

Cage has a new film out, where by he loses his wife. Later finds a new girlfriend, who is a spiritualist with a comatose daughter. This woman tries to bring her daughters spirit back, but actually ends up pulling Cages ex(dead) wife into the daughter instead.

Genuinely, thats basically the summary I read. Ive no idea if its a comedy, horror, thriller or what.

But - its a film that can only be made with Cage as the star!

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on Bone Tomahawk - I watched it a couple of months ago and thought it was awful, but seems I’m in the minority.

I should correct myself, I got my directors mixed up. Not the same director as Mandy, but Brawl in Cell Block 99.

Watched Bone Tomahawk last night, didnt think it was awful, didnt think it was great. Bit of an odd film really.

Story wise its completely basic, which I think is the main issue, there really isnt much going on.

Some interesting characters, but I feel like with more of a story they could have been explored properly.

Absolutely brilliant production I thought, amazing sound design, some incredible visuals, and a real authenticity to the cowboy stuff.

I dont know, I kind of liked it, but its one of those - "some things happen, the end".

It didnt blow me away, but I enjoyed it well enough.

Fair enough! The lack of story was partly what killed it for me. And I also found the tone really weird - I just felt the film was totally devoid of emotion. It felt sort of like a quirky farce, without being funny.

I get that, but I think it comes back to the story. With a little more going on there is time to find out who the characters are and what their motivations are etc. Instead we get
- Married couple, arent they sweet
- Grizzly sheriff cartoon
- Strangely fanboyish older deputy deputy
- Excentric racist asshole

And for reasons not entirely clear, they all go off to the rescue, and (mostly) work together.

I completely see where you are coming from, and thats much of what is holding me back from really liking the film.

I think, really, when my first thoughts are "that sound design is brilliant!" there must be something off!
