Bale. Could we? Would we? Should we?

Maybe we will line up a major sponsor or shirt deal to afford Bale? Think he'd sell loads of shirts under a second coming marketing campaign in the new stadium

I suspect all avenues are being explored. There is willingness to try and make it happen, now we just have to see jf it can. I choose to be positive. Again, will ultimately be down to what Poch wants/Madrid are prepared to do...

Ha...this is really interesting. Come to think of it, the BBC story was a bit out of the blue. Like there was no rapid speculation of Bale to Spurs - all the links were to United and the Spurs stuff was confined to the forums and some Twitter. Maybe that story had another meaning. It wasn’t as if serious speculation needed to be quietened down as it hadn’t started yet.

Injury details to add some context to number of games played whilst at Madrid.

Season / Injury / Games missed
17/18 Calf Problems 3
17/18 Pulled hamstring 3
17/18 Calf Injury 8
16/17 Calf Injury 8
16/17 Calf muscle strain 2
16/17 Ankle injury 17
16/17 Hip injury 2
15/16 Calf Muscle 8
15/16 Muscle Injury 4
15/16 Muscle Injury 3
14/15 Hamstring Injury 3
13/14 Muscular problems 1

That’s quite the injury record, especially compared to the fella he hoped to emulate...

326 days injured (66 games missed) Vs 165 days (23 games) for Ronaldo, over the past 5 seasons.

Outside the fans is there a want for bale?

Given the clubs model I can’t imagine levy would be all over it?

Gareth Bale transfer: Tottenham could beat Manchester United to reunion with Real Madrid star willing to take pay cut

The 28-year-old will discuss his future this week and would be willing to make compromises on financial demands if a deal could be struck to bring him back to north London.

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring developments with Gareth Bale and may yet launch an audacious bid to bring the star back to the club this summer, with the 28-year-old’s representatives set to meet with Real Madrid to sort his future out this week.

Bale followed his match-winning substitute appearance in the Champions League final with the announcement that he would have to consider his future if he would not be a starter in future, and his agent Jonathan Barnett is set to sit down with the Bernabeu hierarchy over the next few days.

His exit is by no means certain since Bale is a personal favourite of president Florentino Perez, even if manager Zinedine Zidane is not so warm to him, and the situation is further complicated by Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.

The Portuguese also cast doubt on whether he would stay at the club for next season, and the bottom line is that one of the two leaving would make it far easier for the other.

The link between Manchester United and Bale has long existed, with the player now said to see Old Trafford as a preferred destination.

They would also be better placed to match the forward’s current wages, but that is precisely why United are now cool on the player, especially at his age and at this point of his career as well as after signing Alexis Sanchez.

Sources close to Bale say he would also be very open to a return to Spurs, and would be willing to make compromises on financial demands if a deal could be structured.

With manager Mauricio Pochettino having urged the club to make statements in the market this summer, those close to the hierarchy say Tottenham would be willing to offer a deal similar to Harry Kane’s, of around £200,000 a week with bonuses.

Sources say that Spanish tax means Bale only gets £200,000 in hand at Real Madrid, but that other commercial deals related to being at the club take him up to way over £500,000.

So following Daniel dealing his first card yesterday, Gareth has wasted no time in responding.

Perez's turn next!

"Some people close to Spurs were talking to me yesterday about this, some of this gets into speculative discussion. I think his Adidas contract comes to an end this summer. And there's talk that if he goes to Nike that could usually be indicative. Because apparently Nike's plan for when Spurs move back to White Hart Lane would be the 'Homecoming'. And that would tie in nicely. Again this is people who have heard little bits of things putting two and two together."

Bale is still under contract with Adidas until 2020. He was also part of the Real Madrid adidas kit launch yesterday.

Thinking about this more and more and I think there are risks that outweigh the fee:

1. The number of games we can get out of Bale per season. He's an explosive player, Poch pushes the boundaries with his double training sessions so what impact does this have on a player like Bale?
2. Doing business with Real Madrid, our biggest assets (Eriksen, Alli, Kane) are at threat. They'd be mugs to not to include some kind of clause that gives them options on these players.

*I am of course, trying to convince myself that I won't be bothered if we don't get him, he could win us the flipping league if he comes!

"Gareth Bale, Gareth Bale....you were born to play for Spurs, you were born to play for Spurs" is one of the best football songs ever in my opinion. The words are perfect and of course it is the welsh national anthem..

For those that want him back I suggest we meet at Trafalgar Square and spend a couple of hours singing it... The news coverage of 10,000 Tottenham fans showing our love for him might just swing his opinion...

COYS...

Nope !.

1. Poch isn't an idiot, he wouldn't push Bale to breaking point imo, he'd look after him.

2. The reality for a club at our current level is that -- unless we can win the top prizes -- we will, at some point, have some of our best players wanting to go elsewhere. I'd rather they went to Madrid than to Utd or City (of course I'd rather they all stayed and we win everything with them).

This would be so, so, so, so, so, so good. Imagine it on the London busses, and on the ads all over the tube network. Homecoming, with the awesome new stadium at WHL and Bale front and center. It is too perfect a marketing opportunity. It would be so sweet.

It's happening!

Spurs ready to launch big Bale bid
Tottenham could make an "audacious" attempt to bring Gareth Bale back to the club from Real Madrid, according to the Independent.

With Bale's agent due to hold talks with Madrid officials in the coming days, Spurs are keeping tabs on the situation, with the Wales international "open to a return and willing to make compromises on financial demands."

That could put Spurs ahead of Manchester United, long seen as a potential destination if Bale leaves the Bernabeu -- but the report says an exit "is by no means certain, since he is a favourite of Madrid president Florentino Perez."
