Bale. Could we? Would we? Should we?

Sky Sports reporting the same. It’s been leaked our end I would imagine. Don’t think we are willing to offer up the dough. Shame but we move on.

Yeah zero chance of going to chelsea, he's obviously not going to join a little Europa league team.

It's clear he's coming back to Tottenham.

I suspect it's all been agreed already and levy will now work on Perez to get him for a reasonable fee. They still owe us a shed load of money from the first deal, so we'll probably write some of that off and come up with a figure that sounds good for both parties.

I suspect when he joins, Gareth will get a large signing on fee with huge bonuses for winning trophies, that way we can make the basic wage work for both parties.

And don't forget personal sponsorships and endorsements, which normally far outweigh the superstar players' basic wage.

I suspect when he signs we'll announce the new stadium naming rights at the same time for maximum exposure.

I'll have some of whatever you're having! :D

Love the optimism though.

Gotta say, the fawning over Gold’s article that he put out on the history of Poch at Spurs a couple of days ago absolutely baffled me. No new information, literally just typing out all the publicly available information in order and sending it out...everyone on Twitter going crazy for how good it was. He seems like a decent bloke and does get some access to interview players but I much prefer Kilpatrick and Ben Pearce.

Ben Pearce all day long. Alistair Gold was OK when at the Hertfordshire Mercury - and he’s no doubt got the same best interests of Spurs at heart now but football London is pure click bait and filled with annoying adverts. I’ve succumbed to reading the Evening Standard links ahead of Football London, which doesn’t make me feel particularly proud.

It’s the BBC. I don’t think they put things out there with such certainty unless they have a good source. I know there wasn’t a quote in the article, but there doesn’t have to be.

No one was more excited on these pages about the prospect of Bale than me, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. It will be Martial or Pulisic.

Dont give any more weight to the BBC than you do the Star or the Sun - its been a long time since they were a cut above.

Yeah, he does that a lot. I read an interview with him in a Norwegian fanzine recently, he seems like a genuinely nice bloke, and he's probably just trying to survive as a journalist, but a lot of his articles are rather pointless (basically putting 2 and 2 together), in my opinion.

Agreed, there is simply no way we could afford the wages he can demand. He might have been willing to take a bit of a pay cut, but doubt he would go below £200 k p/w and there's no way we could afford that

We only have two chances of getting bale,
He wants to come back to us, none
And man utd spunk all their money on Ronaldo, fudge all.

Right now, he’s the best player in the world, potentially he could be the greatest the game has even seen, better than Zlatan even, we made a mistake not breaking the bank to keep him 5 years ago, it would be a mistake to not do the same to get him back.

Any other player at any other time and yes we have to do things the right way, but, Bale is different, if we get this done we’ll win the league, the European Cup, the Super Bowl and reverse the Brexit referendum.

It is supposition. They infer that he is beyond our price structure. We shall see.

Ehhhhhh I dunno man. I was as excited as anyone at the prospect, but looking at the various outlets since Bale gave his interview, it’s already pretty clear who the players are, and I don’t think it’s us. The BBC didn’t put this in their Gossip column, it’s a very clear statement. They don’t need to be that definitive unless they are doing someone’s bidding - either ours or Bale’s camp.

On the other hand, I would love to be wrong, and you always do seem like you know ‘something’, so I’ll hold out a small amount of hope. But it just feels like the various parties wanted to nip this in the bud before it got too big. This should be a summer of optimism, and I don’t think the club would want any let down or negativity because we expect Bale and get someone else.

As we build up to Gareth's arrival, I will posting a weekly feature on the man and how he can be utilised at the Club.

More details on this will be revealed in the coming days.

Please check back to this thread for further details.
