rSol

Just watched the UNICEF match, for whom rSol came on 2nd half.

He was subjected to about 75 step-overs and then by-passed by Figo, and claimed offside instead of tackling for their goal, during which he turned his back on a ground shot. He then couldn't do anything against Ronaldinho except root himself to the spot and swing his arm around to knock him down.

Subbed by Beckham (returning after subbing himself) and looked really puzzled. Afterwards Beckham said that rSol was injured so Sir Alex asked him if he wanted to go back on. You could see his nose grow an inch as he said it.

As for rSol, you could almost see him thinking ".... only subbed because I am .."

Oh well, apparently he reckons we cannot win the league because we don't have enough winners in our team. Also, what's the fuss about Deli Alli, let's see him put in top performances for five, ten fifteen years. clam!

Campbell is well aware that all he needs to do is say something (anything at all!) about Spurs or a Spurs player and he is guaranteed a mass of publicity. He's become a professional troll and it's Spurs fans he's trolling.

So like with any other troll... can we not just ignore him from now on? It literally does not matter what the eejit says. So let's stop pretending it does.

indeed, he'll get a quote out there every few months but you just know he spends every single day badgering journalists with opinions nobody cares about

Could not agree more.

There's no point locking this as someone will just start a new thread. I do agree we not need to be kept up to date on what this tosser thinks.

This piece from Martin Samuel in the DM on Sol not being invited to WHL next sunday :D

*******************************

Why the surprise that Sol Campbell will be absent from the parade of former players and managers bidding farewell to the old White Hart Lane next Sunday? Running his contract down, before joining Arsenal on a free transfer, it is hard to imagine a player who left in more acrimonious circumstances.

Far from a party, his presence would be more likely to start a riot. If he genuinely expected an invitation, this is another example of how distanced Campbell, and those around him, are from reality.

Campbell is mystified that he wasn't England captain, perplexed that he has not landed a top job in management, thought he could be London's mayor and now wonders why he has not been offered a return on a historic day for a club whose fans despise him.

Strangely enough, Tottenham are also not giving Mark Bosnich the chance to reprise his Hitler salute, or having the catering done by the bloke who made the lasagne at that hotel in Canary Wharf.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
“I can’t believe some people. I’m one of the greatest minds in football and I’m wasted because of a lack of experience or maybe ‘he talks his mind too much’” – [I’m] Sol Campbell on not being given the Oxford United manager’s job.

fudge me what an ego!!!

Immodest Campbell lets his ego do the talking

A few weeks back, the sports minister, Helen Grant, arranged a summit at Whitehall to discuss why there are so few black managers and coaches in the game. Senior figures from the Football Association were there, along with the Premier League, the Professional Footballers’ Association and the Football League. There were guests from Kick It Out and Show Racism the Red Card and Sol Campbell also received an invitation, as an ex-England player who is frustrated, understandably, by the lack of opportunities.

What Campbell does not appear to realise, perhaps, is that the best way to get a point across is without ego or too much self-esteem.

On this occasion he wanted the FA’s technical director, Dan Ashworth, to explain why Gary Neville had been fast-tracked through the system to become one of Roy Hodgson’s assistants with the England team. Ashworth started talking about the favourable impression Neville had made on Hodgson and the players and was running through the processes that were involved when Campbell put out his hand to interrupt him. This is when things started to get a little strange.

“But I am Sol Campbell.”

As you might imagine, that isn’t a particularly easy sentence to come back from. Ashworth did his best to continue because, well, what else could he do? But it is fair to say the entire room had been engulfed in awkwardness and when Ashworth stopped talking there was another tumbleweed moment. Campbell, hand out, ended the conversation in the same way he had started it.

“But I am Sol Campbell.”

He was correct. But whether he gets an invitation the next time there is one of these discussions is not entirely clear.

I hope he gets invited to all these things so he can continue to self destruct. I’d actually love him to get a managers job somewhere, he wouldn’t last 2 months.
