Watched 50 minutes of The Polka King. Think it's based on a real guy. I usually like Jack Black, finding it hard to like his character in this one.

Yet to watch Darkest Hour but I also found The Last Jedi was disappointing but guess I shouldn’t have expected too much as I didn’t rate Looper.

I think thats where I was with it. Looper was quality for about an hour, I thought, and then it just fell to brick. I never understood the fuss around that film.

TLJ is similar, theres a lot of good in there but it just falls apart for me. So many "but why?" bits, which is really unacceptable.

Watched Raid last night, great fight scenes, not much else?

Yeah i should have mentioned it's a bit of an aquired taste - second one is a different beast so dont let the first put you off, still a lot of fight scenes but a much bigger budget and more of storyline

A Bittersweet Life is another asian movie along similar lines to Raid 2 though not as brutal with the fight scenes

The version I watched was dubbed. Think I prefer subtitles to dubbing. The acting appeared good visually, but the dubbing cheapens it.

Darkest Hour with Gary Oldman - very good film and extrmemly educational for me 8/10 (worth watching Dunkirk first)

New Star Wars 6/10 Disney are turning these films into a joke and its half an hour too long

Not sure if Disney deserve the blame. AFAIK they have let the creative minds behind the films i.e. the writers and directors to their own devices.

Remember with all the whining about the current Star Wars films from us old and original fans, we are all much much older now!
In 1977 is was wonderful, now 40 years on its more great nostalgic fun!

Pretty sure it's a confirmed thing now, it's called Judge Dredd: Mega-City One.

There was even a rumour they were in talks with Karl Urban to come back as JD too, which would be great.

Dredd was wonderful, the only 3D movie I've seen in the cinema where I actually enjoyed the 3D elements. Had a tinkle poor marketing budget so it didn't make a lot at the box office but has since made loads of dough on dvd/blu-ray/rentals etc so is a modern "cult classic" I think.

Im a big fan of Karl Urban, bloody good actor.

Loved what he did with Dredd as well, not many actors would insist upon not taking the helmet on, not showing the money maker. He understood Dredd though and knew it was the right call, and he was fudging brilliant in the role as well.
