Who or what was the turning point for Leicester City ?

Spurs7891

Well, this is not a Leicester thread, strictly a Spurs one !

Leicester have done really well this season, beyond anyone's predictions. Regardless of where they will finish this season, they are truly in title chase now. Was wondering who or what revived their form and was searching through their results to find out. It didn't take long to find out the real answer. No prizes for guessing who turned their form. It is not Ranieri, Vardy or Mahrez ! It is none other than the football specialists called Tottenham Hotspur FC (aka Football Charity) ! We actually revived their form and confidence last season !

Leicester were in shyte form and deep in relegation zone then, being without a league win in 8 matches, drawing 2, losing 6, scoring just 5 goals. Their only win during that period was ofcourse against Spurs away in the FA Cup when they scored 2 late goals to win 2-1. But still it was not enough to revive their league form. Then came the league match at WHL. We did beat them 4-3 but Leicester scored 3 goals away for the first time in the league ! By donating them the 3 goals, we gave them the belief and confidence that they CAN ! And they have never looked back since then, winning 7 of their remaining 9 matches last season, scoring 19 goals and finishing comfortably out of the relegation zone. And they have continued that form this season. Since playing us that day, they have played 26 league matches, winning 18, drawing 6 and losing just 2 (to Chelsea and Arsenal), scoring 56 goals !

So, we can pat ourselves in the back for reviving Leicester. This is why everyone just loves (to make fun of) Spurs ! Afterall, we always enjoy going around helping all the teams in trouble, don't we. It seems we inspire everyone except ourselves ! We better change this bad habit for once and bring Leicester back down to earth when we meet them twice in January !

Knew this thread will be moved here.o_O

If it stays in SN&V we can only discuss that seeing everything through a negative Spurs prism is wrong. If it is over here we can discuss how Leicester have turned things around.

Should archive this for a laugh next season ...

Pundits, media and fans should understand, half a season or even two seasons does not make success.

- Charlton (under Curbs), Swansea (last season's darling), West Ham (same time last season), Southampton (darling every decade or so), Leicester ... list goes on
- The right players/buys, unusually attacking style plus a good form/fixture run and everyone overreacts

The vultures will pick the bones (Vardy/Mahrez) of Leicester, teams will start to wise up to the tactics, and things return to normal.

When you look at the results of West Ham, Villa, Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Everton (those 4 closest historically to us), even Pool, plus the Southampton, Swansea, Leicester, etc. over the last 7-10 years compared to ours, you start to understand what Levy has achieved even in midst of losing players/managers .. remarkable consistency.

I think this shows how far we've come. This is the kind of tangled logic and poor thread placement that's needed to have a whinge about the club these days...

Happy to see Leicester do well. If we miss out on a top 4 finish to Leicester it will probably be the least bitter I will have been about missing out on the top 4 I can remember from what I can imagine at this point. Fantastic story and great effort from the entire club. I don't understand why people can't just be happy to see someone that small do that well instead of trying to spin into a negative about Spurs.

Let's instead focus on what was the turning point for Jose at Chel53a.

Tottenham 5-3 Chel53a

Since then they've been playing defensive crap football and eventually the players got fed up.

Yeah, my OMT that you robbed at the awards last season... I'm waiting for my posthumous award before 2016 dammit!!!

speed kills, mahrez and vardy run at opposition defenses like no other team does and of course they play with nothing to lose, no expectations is great to play with

Well this is very easy.

In March I put a bet on Leicester to go down, Bournemouth to win the Championship, Notts County to be relegated and something else not sure what. £40 returned £650 odd. Of course Leicester won 5/6 to stay up costing me that bet.

This season they were bankers to go down in a majority of my antepost bets. My typical bad luck is the corner Turner.

Well, the real turning point for Mourinho was when he banned Chelsea's female physio. His players then started the mutiny. Afterall, it is not often the players get to touch a woman in front of everyone and not end up getting charged !:p

Not sure how some people can accept Leicester going on to win the league ! I think it will be embarassing and unacceptable for all the big clubs, especially us, if they do win the league. We are the only club among the "big 6" clubs, not to win atleast 1 league title in the last 30 years. And we have not win the league title for 54 years while Leicester are not known for winning any major trophies except the League Cups.

It's currently a really interesting time for Leicester as they were quite poor against Liverpool by all accounts and we will see the Leicester state of play after New Years; Emirates Marketing Project then us to play. They could be on 3 without a win which would make for a different situation all together.

Liverpool might just be a blip, everyone has an off day, however, for a club of there stature with a squad that hasn't been in this situation before you'd have to say a collapse is at least as likely as riding it out

I fear that may be the end of them now and city could give them a proper thrashing

If they do go on to secure top 4 what would all those who say you can't get top 4 without the millions in transfer fees and wages behind you?

The exception that proves the rule ;-)

Seriously though, aberrations can happen, if Leicester went on to do it consistently for three or four years at their current budget then that would be a whole new thing.

Let's see where they end up before throwing the baby out with the bath water.

One season or three it completely debunks the myth that you need money to compete.
