I watched him particularly today . He doesn't attempt to block passes or tackle. His passing is off. Why is he playing? Dele is off form too but that may be partly because we are not playing to his strength. At least he is still working hard and scored a good goal. Eriksen is an utter clam. Week in week out.

As I have said before I am a former police officer. I saw some awful things far worse than a broken ankle. Some of those things stayed with me for weeks and months afterwards. But myself and other members of the emergency teams had to remain professional or lives could be lost. Some of these players need to be a bit tougher and more professional. Injuries as terrible as they are, are part of professional sport.

The one I mentioned earlier where he eased off to avoid a 50:50 in their right back position really wound me up. He's never been fond of a challenge but that was gutless on another level.

He really should be binned. I'd be amazed if anyone can make an argument to keep him in at this point.

We needed that win. Were so close to it.

The game was always going to be scrappy. Desperate. The disappointment was how we folded at the end. Sure, terrible injury, and unjust red. But put all that to one side and finish the game. We had chances to break. We had ability to sit in. But we are not assured sitting back defending and not determined when breaking. Plus we struggle to pass and retain the ball. Maybe it was too much to ask once down to 10, but you want the team to show greater fortitude in that kind of situation.

Dier should have been bought on to shore up the defence.

Very different circumstances and preparation. This isn't aimed at you, but I think telling players to man up when they've seen a career threatening injury is a bit of a dingdong move.

Easy to say in hindsight. Would you like Mourinho? Could be a fun ride. He could probably get us doing some of the basics well. But Poch has star quality. He will take average players and make them something special. Though at the moment Poch just needs some consistency.

Losing Kane was a blow. I thought we were okay in defense today and missed Kane up top. Moura Alli (apart from the well taken goal) and Eriksen didn't manage to get into any rhythm.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Son doesn’t play for a while even after he finishes his suspension, given his reaction.

Our spurs are awful at the moment- the fact that Erikson keeps getting picked shows Poch doesn’t care about creating Mrk ll spurs.

With arse doing awful as well Sounds like mourinho will end up there. Right now we are in relegation form/ cannot even beat this shower. On the radio they said Everton have lost so many games when the oppo score first, I knew as soon as I heard that that we would be the first to break that run.

Poch is running out of luck and running out of ideas- with Kane n Son missing this spurs team won’t be able to score for love nor money.

I am not telling them to man up. I wouldn't say that, sorry if it comes across that way. What I am saying is they need to be professional in the moment. I am just an ordinary bloke as were most of my colleagues. But we had a job to do and we knew we had to do it then deal with mental stuff later.

That's why I said it wasn't aimed at you. It was a more general comment about some of the posts saying the players need to toughen up.

No need for comments like that you say, yet you are maligning someone for being the cause of a pretty horrendous injury with absolutely no evidence.
    Strange.

I'm making a judgement (i.e. that Son deliberately fouled Gomes) based on the evidence of what I saw. There's a fairly strong, albeit not conclusive, evidence against him. If you think about it, I'm sure you can see the difference between that and saying someone has an ability to read minds.

He needs to play on Wednesday.
Up to the coaching staff to get him mentally prepped for it.

I'll be very very disappointed in him if he doesn't play. Yes today was a horrible thing to see and to have happened but he's paid to be a professional footballer and, as upset as he undoubtedly is, it'd be very weak not to get back on the horse for Wednesday.

Special mention: Tosun and Pickford for consoling Son immediately, before the red was given IIRC.

There is literally zero chance of Son playing again this month let alone this week.

Can imagine he won’t be making a tackle for a while for fear. Sonny is a nice lad - what’s happened will shake him up for a while, probably until we know the extent of the damage and if Gomes will ever play again.

I am glad you are not a Judge in a court of law. Look at the foul in isolation. Was it a red card?

The rest, Gomez elbow was in another phase of play. It was a possibly worse challenge than Son's but didn't get so much as a foul. Even if Son was getting back at him - which is impossible to say, and Son was already tearing into a challenge with the other Everton players before Gomez - you still have to judge only on the foul itself. Was it a red card challenge?
