Japhet Tanganga

Excellent again today, playing right of a 3, or centre back, or left back...

Another good showing from Tank Anger

Thought he played well, but he was at fault for the Ings goal, can’t work out why he showed him inside. Will come with experience however, thought Toby was the better of the two tonight

Lovely kid.

Why did Poch never give him a chance.

Because for the plaudits which Poch received about bringing on young players, Poch didnt really do much in that regard. Without checking any data to back this up, he had a young team of say 22-25 year olds as a result of our transfer policy, but was no more willing (and arguably less willing than some managers) to give players from the youth system a chance compared to managers at other clubs (Klopp, OGS, Lampard, Arteta/Emery,...).

I thought Poch was brilliant, but think he also missed many chances to bring young players through such as domestic cup games where its always seemed possible to have 2-3 young players on the bench in addition to 3-4 senior, and then try to give the young players game time

Spot on, his entry into the team could not have been better for both him and us, There will be a down turn sooner or later ( it happens to all young players) but he has shown already that he has the ability and cool head to become a top player for us.
Agree fully.

Still struggling to believe how he was introduced. Thrown in against Liverpool with commentators scrambling to learn his name. Barely put a foot wrong. Starting against Emirates Marketing Project. Playing all across the back, playing in a back four, in a back three. Never looking out of place.

As sink or swim moments go you'd be hard pressed to find one with deeper waters. He's been amazing all things considered.

As you say there will be harder times for him. He seems ready to handle it.

Just saved us a massive amount of money in the summer I think.

From the below, I can infer his contract was to run out this year. What were we up to?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japhet_Tanganga

Tanganga was born in Hackney, London, to a Congolese family. He went on to attend Greig City Academy and at the age of 10 joined the Tottenham youth academy. In June 2019 he had his contract with Tottenham extended until 2020. On 24 September 2019, he made his debut in the EFL Cup away to Colchester United. He made his full Premier League debut at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Liverpool on 11 January 2020. Three days later he played the full 90 minutes against Middlesbrough in a FA Cup replay, which Spurs won 2–1 and was named man of the match.

even so, given the impact that he has made, and the additional attention he likely has from other potential suitors...what have we been doing?! He needs a new contract soon! Five year contract...has to be.

Jeez guys, he's literally only just gone into the first team! Give Levy and the team a chance, I'm sure he'll be getting a bumper new contract soon enough.
