What? How did you get to there from my point about Romero wandering out of position? If, like with the fullbacks, there is some one else to sit in and cover him then fine. But that's not how the DM works in Ange's system.

    Ange’s system / formation

It's like I wrote this myself! Sacking managers after 18 months hasn't worked for us to date -- the only thing that has worked (relative to the Premier League era) is sticking with a manager for a few years; Jol, Redknapp and Pochettino. As you say, sticking with someone doesn't guarantee...

Ben Davies out so it seems like it has to be Royal or maybe we’ll see Dragusin with VDV at LB. The latter seems unlikely to me — not sure about VDV playing the inverted role. Werner being out might mean we see Mikey Moore on the bench.

    2023/24 Player of the Season

Are Romero and VDV not part of the team's set piece troubles? It's only Vicario?

Let me be clear…I’m not at all criticising Romero for doing what he did in the match the other day. I’m just making the point that he wanders from his position quite a lot.

    James Maddison

Regardless of whatever happened at Leicester, I reckon people are going too early on Maddison. It’s not like the rest of the team has been playing well and he’s the only one struggling.

Yes...that's exactly the point I was making. Well done

Scored a screamer in the Asian Cup final (Sonny then scored the equaliser). Luongo got player of the tournament too.

    2023/24 Player of the Season

I got an email to vote for my One Hotspur Player of the Season so I thought it would be a good discussion. My pick: Gugliemo Vicario He had a lot of questions to answer because no one knew who he was and because Raya was probably most people's preferred pick. Struggled a bit on set pieces but I...

Sorry I agree with everything (obviously...it's why I've been told I browse this forum looking to shoot down negative comments) but if anyone is just learning that progress isn't linear then they've got bigger problems than Spurs finishing 5th. Progress is never ever linear, even when it appears...

Romero at DM sounds good but he goes walkabout a lot. I mean look at the goal he scored...what was he doing there??

Nara is an awesome place. I live in Japan in part because of some family history there. Too many people do Kyoto instead of Nara.

I understand I'm robust* in my opinions, and I'm not naive enough to think everything is rosy. But I genuinely think everything comes with some big asterisks: the first season in a drastically different direction, no Harry Kane, brick loads of injuries, the most interrupted and inconsistent match...

When we score goals is one of the big problems for me. We concede early and have had to come back too many times this season. We've done it pretty well overall, but if we score more often when we're on top I think the narrative would be a lot different.

    Ange’s system / formation

It's an odd one but like you say maturity. What we do is what we saw Arsenal do at our place in 2022 -- they got sucked into the emotion of it. Holding got sent off, they gave away a penalty and suddenly it's 3-0. The difference between that Arsenal side and that performance and the one...

    Ange’s system / formation

Maybe based on the numbers you're right, but we still have other very clear weak spots. For example, we're vulnerable on the break, get sucked into emotional battles every other game (Maupay etc). But to run with it...that's pretty fudging amazing to think that if we just defend set pieces...
