Harry Kane MBE

Anyone talking about benching him is bonkers. He’s a vital player for us, occupies defenders and deep-lying midfielders alike and will start scoring again.

He should be benched. His performances have been crap and all those crap about occupying. Hello - other players are acknowledged threats - Alli, Son, Eriksen.

The observation that Pochettino lacks the cojones to bench Harry Kane is worrying.

This was the main reason we looked so inept in the opposition area.
Once Mourinho got his team (bus) sorted we needed a fit striker to at least try break them down.
I think he is injured.

I think he needed more and better service. Yes, when on top form he has the ability to change a game like that. But that moment of magic didn't come, harsh to blame him for that when he was given very little to work with.

It is true he had very little service yesterday or against Brighton.
But a truly fit and on-form Kane will then work his socks off to carve out those chances for himself or his team mates through his off the ball movement, pressing, harrying, dropping deeper, pulling his markers out of position. That's what we are missing with Kane at the moment imo - aside from being a goal machine - all the extra work he does on the pitch. For someone who is as incredibly good as Kane is, that level of drop in form is very noticeable.

He's had a long season of being the #1 striker that he's now completely shattered, our lack of buying a suitable substitute for him to give him breaks when needed has taken its toll. That I feel is why we're 4th and now out of all the cups. Llorente was, and still isn't, the answer.

We need a top class striker to challenge him not to back him up. We have been handling Kane all wrong, he seems to get his own way and he doesn't feel threatened by the other striker we have at the club.

It might have been my wording, using substitute, I meant someone who challenges Kane not backs him up. Substitute as in someone who plays instead of Kane in any game not just those that are deemed meaningless.

What do you have in mind by "top class striker"? Potential? Or established?
Assuming we could even convince (and afford) another top class striker to join the club knowing that he will be competing against a world class striker in Kane, all we will end up with is at least one unhappy, benched, highly paid striker.

Who is Bayern’s reserve striker

Makes me laugh some of the stuff regarding Kane recently - you don't see other clubs with players of that level buying players to compete with them for their place in the team - he's legit one of the best CFs in the world, he walks in to your team when fit like he would every other side and you stick by them when their form dips and let them play their way back in to it

Was like he was under water yesterday, he's clearly not fit.

I agree and its been obvious for the last several games, the worrying thing is does Poch think he is? or is Kane telling him he is ( so he can chase the GB) and being selfish.

We all know that Kane is a great striker but he has been really poor since returning and yesterday he was not even closing down like he usually does.

Or is Kane simply so good that even when when not on form the choice to play him is the right call?

Not if he is not fit, everyone can have poor games ( even the best) but i think its pretty obvious that Kane is not fully fit as he has been poor since returning. I watched him yesterday and he was struggling to keep up his usual game which includes being on the move and closing down.

I dont see much wrong with his press the last two games. The problem is the ayers behind him Erikson and dele not following it up leaving room for the opposing team to play through it.
Son especially but Dembele recently as well are just not at it.
