Yet another laptop thread

A quick question is it normal for Windows 7 to take up around 20 gb of space on the hard drive? Seems rather excessive to say the least anyone tried to stream line the OS before?

It is 20GB for 64 Bit 7, 16GB 32 Bit, they load enterprise EA /ultimate OEM to disk (even if you are only running home basic) so they can offer 'Anytime Upgrade', even if you are only on home basic or professional.

Not too sensible that, its 20 gb, what if you have a SSD. I hated that OSX 10.5 couldn??t fit on a single layer disc without removing language packs etc. Off to google methods to remove the bloat

powercfg -h off

Will give you back about 8gb, turns off the hibernate feature for Win7.
*run from cmd prompt*
