Laptop/Firefox Issue

Have a 4 year old Dell Inspiron laptop, lately been having an issue with firefox freezing shortly after I open it up, it freezes my whole laptop for between 2 and 5 mins and its immensely frustrating

I have refreshed firefox several times, also turned off hardware acceleration but to no avail, any ideas ??
