Apparently since 1982, every world cup final has included at least one player from Bayern Munich and one player from Inter Milan

Would love someone with better football knowledge/too much time on their hands than me to confirm and even name them if they can be arsed

Matthaus and Klinsmann probably land in both camps at some point

I was shocked to find out last week who Thiago's (Liverpool one) dad is...Mazinho who also played in that game. Made me feel stupid and old when I found out.

That tournament was totally forgettable apart from cameos by Diana Ross, jack charlton and Maradona.

Personally, I thought 1990 was much worse, a travesty of a World Cup from a footballing point of view. But it had some great stories and with Ireland and England doing so well, it gets remembered very fondly on this side of the world.

The final was pure poison but was in keeping with the rest of the tournament.
