FIFA: Destroying Football Since 1904

true.

perhaps one 6 year term or make the presidency more symbolic ? Or a bit like the UN then with a council of the 7 confederation presidents with a rotating presidency every 2 years amongst them. Take away the budget and power from a single individual.

And the US system would work well if the Constitution was upheld properly by an independent supreme court, if political donations were capped (abolish superPACS) and if there was a range of parties.
Something like this would work far better IMO. It dilutes power and reduces the opportunity for systemic malfeasance. I wonder if a 4 year term, on a World Cup cycle, makes sense for practical reasons or would that just carve the corruption into 4 years blocks. Maybe if the president's role is more symbolic, then that is less of a risk. Whatever happens, FIFA will need to change direction drastically or will be replaced.

On your last point, this is well made. One party gone rogue in a two-party system gives you this lawless corruption we are now seeing. I think it is somewhat ironic that the Trump administration is beginning to just ignore the Supreme Court's decisions now when it suits them, considering that the court has rubber-stamped most of Trump's authoritarian impulses to date. If the midterms turn into a complete fudgery then that's it for the US, I think.
