I think this is just twisting statistics. If you are comparing alcohol v drugs, why not include cigarettes?
And the vice economy is going to be speculation, no hard and fast numbers.

"Britons" is probably misleading too, as I would be surprised if the majority of the population are involved in drugs or prostitution. If you count foreign residents, then anomalies like Russian chairmen of West London football clubs will bias the numbers further.
 
The thing that skews this slightly is that they've only included beer and wine. Any sort of decent brass is going to cost you hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands and you'd be hard pressed to spend that sort of money on beer and wine in one hit. The same for drugs, a gram of Charlie costs more than 2 cases of beer and I know which one goes quicker! If they'd included spirits, champagne and cider then I suspect things would look a lot different.
