Best free anti-spyware programs

PC has slowed down due to having some babylon rubbish on my pc. I've got rid of it but I'm sure there's other stuff on there. For some reason spybot has stopped working. What's the best free way to get rid of spyware without formating?

What OS are you running?

Microsoft Security Essentials is a free package that protects against spyware and the like. Try downloading it if it's compatible with your OS (I think it's for Vista/Win7 only) and running a full scan on all our drives and memory.

i use Microsoft Security Essentials and it's seems to be the business

i run Malwarebytes as well though im not sure if there is a need to if i already have MSE ?

Run http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx -> Safety scanner, post infection tool to check if there is anything on system now

As others have said, if running a modern version of Windows Security Essentials is very good and will cover both Viruses and Malware.

Also make sure you have Windows Update on, and are fully patched up (including Adobe/Java/Chrome/Firefox/etc.)
