Absolutely. Although obviously sensible to target players for positions we're lacking in standout quality particularly the January window is as much about availability and opportunity as priorities imo. The last thing we need is an expensive not good enough player.

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Can only assume that was part of a precautionary strategy with Kudus who has played a lot of football so far this season and Kolo Muani who has just returned from injury.

    Brennan Johnson

Wouldn't be against selling him if we got a good offer for him. So far under Frank we're not able to create the kind of chances for him that we did under Ange and with less end product he's not as good. I do also think he's showing signs of improvement though and as such I wouldn't be in a rush...

    Richarlison

Think he showed yesterday that he's a decent backup option as a striker. Sure, he didn't have a particularly good game. But he also came really close to scoring at least a couple of times. If we play similarly well, or better (which we should realistically hope for with more of our best players...

Agreed. Winning the LC would have been great. Though no doubt the Chelsea and Copenhagen games are also really important. If we don't rotate sufficiently we're sitting around waiting for a full blown injury crisis which would making competing in all competitions close to impossible. To me...

I'm saying the ref saw it as a yellow card tackle. Everything after that is "standard" and imo stupid. The player making the tackle gets rewarded for everything that happens after that.

Classic football. Make a yellow card tackle, but do enough to cause some afters. Both players involved in the afters, but one of them also made the yellow card challenge. So both get a yellow. Don't think I've ever seen a ref do something other than a yellow card to both, but it's stupid.

A performance to be fairly positive about imo. Particularly with the injuries and players being rotated out. Showing some good signs in our possession game that has very much been lacking previously this season. Building on positive movement in the Everton game imo. Frustrating game after their...

Too early to make the LC a priority over the league imo. Still too much of a long shot even if we win this one game. Saudi Sportswashing Machine are too good to prioritise the league strongly. Some changes for this one, some others for the Chelsea one. Try to prevent an injury problem becoming an injury crisis...

Yeah, maybe. Don't think VdV is a good option currently. We're short on CB options at the moment, VdV himself is one of those we should look to protect and playing full back would probably put even more strain on his hamstrings than playing CB.

    The case for the defence

To me the big question about our defensive solidity is how do we manage to keep most of that while also improving our attacking play. To me it seems necessary for players to take more risks and get further forward. With two fairly dedicated defensive midfielders I think centre backs getting...

    Mohammed Kudus

Best one was "give it to Luca (Modric)". Arguably wasn't our only tactic at that time, but he was actually good enough that as a strategy it could actually work. And if a player was in any kind of doubt about what to do giving it to him was probably going to be the right choice.

***Tottenham Hotspur v Everton*** - OMT

More 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1 than 4-4-2 to me, but the differences between those formations aren't exactly crystal clear and will usually only partially describe what's happening anyway. Quite liked Kudus having a more free/roaming role and also play more centrally at times. Hope we see a bit more...

    Rodrigo Bentancur

For me our problems playing through the middle isn't really related to what you point out. Assuming I'm reading you correctly they move around quite a bit when the opponents have possession, defending in deeper areas, wider areas, sometimes pushing higher up (when we press high). That I agree...

    Guglielmo Vicario

Can't quite remember if it was the Everton game, but was a recent one at least. Came for it, went over him, but luckily one of our lads was there to head it away. Think he's finding a good balance on when to come for it and when not to now. Probably helped by overall better defending for set...

    Guglielmo Vicario

Wasn't there one just against Everton he didn't get a hand to? He seems quite strong mentally. Makes some mistakes, but bounces back and doesn't let it impact him that much. That's vital in a goalkeeper.

Yeah, really impossible one to predict. Quite a few who probably could do with some rotation and several who could be starting.

    Kevin Danso

Were a couple of times he struggled against Beto physically. More used to being physically dominant in duels and not so used to those situations where it's reversed or similar strength. But probably some he can adjust to. Been a really good and important signing. Still a step down from...

That's a shame. Was hoping to see him get more game time in the coming weeks. For example in this game. Also gives us a bit of a problem. Only Porro and Spence as the fit full backs and limits our options in midfield.

No. Think the club and Frank are being vague about it on purpose.
