World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

Wow. What an end to an unbelievable game that absolutely no one was bothered about beforehand. Wishing now we’d swallowed the extortionate prices for a 3rd place game and gone to Miami.

Really pleased for Saka that he scored that (and for an England obviously). If he’d missed the abuse would have been off the scale.

Walk over. Who would have expected this. I bet Kane is dying to get on the pitch.

World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

Is Declan Rice captain? I think Darren Fletcher might have mentioned it possibly about 20 times in the first 10 minutes but I might have misinterpreted it.

Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

I totally understand and support the other parties not pandering to Farage’s election whim. But the trouble is there’s no counter to the Reform rhetoric. He was always going to win anyway but it will be interesting to see the turnout and the % vote he gets.

Jeez. Come all the way to the US. Watching it on Fox - and it’s Darren f@cking Fletcher commentating.

Mainoo - supposedly due to injury. Quite how that happens is a mystery. Saw something earlier that he was very disillusioned with the whole World Cup experience. Maybe that’s why he’s not starting and “injury” is a cover. He’s not even on the bench.

I get that and I feel much the same most of the time. Maybe it’s just being out here and every conversation with anyone we talk to is just re-living the game.

World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

I’ve skimmed over the last few pages here. I appreciate all the analyses of what went wrong but I just don’t understand how everyone seems so sanguine about last night. I am absolutely gutted and angry about it.

I saw a clip of Harry’s post match interview and he was clearly, if subtlely, criticising Tuchel. Edit - I’m quite behind things and just catching up but just seen Bellingham’s comments. Players clearly not happy with the tactics/subs.

Immense today. I cannot believe we will willingly sell him.

I am so torn between disappointment, frustration and anger. I think the latter has won out. We just threw our lead away when we might have been able to score a 2nd. What started off as a great afternoon, brilliant atmosphere in the stadium, loads of optimism, was gone in the click of a finger...

Micky posted a photo of Mabbutt’s leg - looked horrendous.

World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

There are Argentinian fans everywhere here. I would say outnumbering English fans easily 6 or 7 to 1. There will of course be areas where each team’s fan congregate (we were at one of them briefly earlier) but just wandering around the main centre area it’s quite striking the difference in...

    Pushing Up The Daisies

He’s done so much great stuff but Í remember him for Dead Calm. A film that always had me watching with my hands over my eyes. Seems his death was quite a shock as he had been given the all clear from cancer a few months earlier. A disease that we should be throwing everything at to cure...

Feels like it's all the time. I do get your general point though. Far too much time spent celebrity spotting, and there was a lot of focus on Beckham last night.
