Mate he was pushed in mid air!

Oh my fudging GHod. Shocking. This simply cannot be allowed to happen after our goal was taken away last week. Absolutely outrageous. That’s a scandal.

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

I’ll try and mess around with the search function and see if I can. But I feel in my bones that I was making the point that I didn’t think it was the right decision for all the reasons of laid out today in this thread. Ange never lost the players, and his gamble paid off. He was never a 17th...

I get you. And I think this goes to the gamble. If we lost all those games and didn’t win the Europa, Ange probably leaves us quite deservedly as a failure who thought too much of himself and his ability to shape destiny, and in the end left a legacy of toxicity that would take time to be...

But we did win the EL. And it was after a season of the players being absolutely broken and barely fit. So it might have been an audacious gamble but it actually paid off. And when has anything actually gone right for us as a club with something like that? We usually always fall at the final...

I actually think up until the last period of Frank’s tenure, he had injuries but also a deeper squad. Ange having Kolo Muani, being able to play actual centre backs, depth in the wing positions. I think we would have been better…simple as that.

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

As I said in response to @Muttley I agree that historically as a club it has been too easy for our players to accept losing, and I think that culture only changed under Poch, when they realised they could actually achieve more. And I would think one of the issues this season is the players...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

I would agree that Levy should have know more than us. Indeed I am always minded to assume people in positions have power have really good reasons for making the decisions they do when I don’t know all the facts. So even though I was very Ange in, because I felt it not wise to sack him given...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

I don’t disagree with this because I know many players who have been through Spurs and then on to clubs that win more trophies say that it didn’t hurt enough to lose at Spurs like it should have. And I would guess the only time we’ve really gotten away from that properly was under Poch. I just...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

On your main thrust, Ange is who he is and clubs know this going in. I don’t blame him for not being some different version of a coach that he just isn’t. He is very clear about what he does going in. On your first point about the sequence, I agree that he had the players believing in what...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

I would say that thinking of sacking Ange as the rational, data driven choice and keeping him being the emotional one is exactly why this season has been such a mess. If you (not you, the board) can’t understand context and have a sense for what the players need, how they are feeling, what...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

Yes…I would love an actual discussion around whether the board are using the right decision making criteria because I think it’s the core issue. It’s beyond Ange. What data are using to model their decisions? What led them to Frank? Whether you think Ange was a good fit, surely there is some...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

I know it’s annoying to keep coming back to this but…we literally won a trophy! We had an unprecedented injury crisis! We finished 5th during his last 18 months! If you want to say everything else definitively proves Ange would get us relegated, fine. All I’m saying is that I think Ange would...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

I’ve even said with how the season has gone; my biggest question would be whether Ange’s style works in a league that has prioritised direct football, physicality and duels. Which is a different opinion to one I held at the start of the year, in which I was certain Ange would have had us top 6...

And you’ve also just decided it would be a particular way for your own reasons. Why are you more right than me in this?

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

Absolutely! He took it and it was clearly a mistake. My point was that it was 8 games, after the transfer window closed, in the middle of the season, taking over from a manager who the players liked and whose football they felt comfortable with. So maybe a better phrase is not that it doesn’t...

Bore off mate, I’m trying to have reasoned arguments where I always try and see the other side too. I’m not trying to offer up a ‘narrative’ I’m trying to offer my opinion as you are welcome to also do. I don’t know who ‘they’ are that you refer to? A group of people who have the temerity to...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

Yeah, to be fair I do think it’s acceptable with both the injuries and then the desire to actually win the trophy and salvage success from a horrible season. I can appreciate why people disagree. But we played Reguillon towards the back end of the season in the league. I did not care one jot...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

But I really don’t know why Forest matters? It was a mad decision for all concerned. Maranakis fired a guy the players liked playing for. They weren’t crying out for what Ange offers. And he never should have joined them. I can see my way to saying something like the way Ange plays might have...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

Genuinely, you think an Ange with a deeper squad this year and fewer injuries than last year would have done a worse job than Frank up to this point? When he had us 5th in his first season? I appreciate you say it’s a feeling but it just seems overly negative.
