The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

I don’t think it’s a problem because with a deeper squad and less injuries his style would have worked better. As it did when we got 5th, and as it did up to the City 4-0 before the injuries really started to bite.

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

Ok but, if hypothetically a manager suffers a historic, unprecedented injury crisis including all of his centre backs, and barely has 11 fit players to put out while dealing with a game every 3 days, leading to a league campaign unfortunately becoming pointless in that season, then could you...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

He has said that if he completely changed their principles in the league it would have stored up issues down the line. Would have maybe gotten more points in the short term but the players would have questioned needing to be brave when we were back to having a normal squad. He was trying to...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

Would be nice. Also still think there is dissonance in the idea we were always going to walk the Europa. When now the general feeling is the squad is bad and needs to be cleared out.

    Mathys Tel

Actually think the way we’ve treated Tel is a disgrace to be honest. The fact that he is still showing up with confidence and trying to make things happen. And is obviously very talented, cannot understand why he hasn’t played more.

OMT - Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

Honestly I have no idea! I have to believe our superior quality versus Palace would see us through but what else is there? I don’t know. They’ve lost Guehi. The manager wants out. It probably isn’t great in that dressing room either. We simply have to win that game. Pray that the players have...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

Ok….I’m not sure how else to say it. There is every chance we could have won that tournament anyway. But after the season we had, with a broken down squad, to arrive in that final believing we were going to win, against a club synonymous with winning…I think Ange had something to do with that...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

He was wrong to take the job. I’ve said it a bunch of times but if you’re hiring Ange because you expect pragmatism, you’re hiring the wrong guy. You hire him because you want him to bring his brand of football and uncompromising belief. I think Ange would even acknowledge that because of...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

Again, I’m not saying Ange is better than Poch. I’m saying that to win any final, to actually get over the line when the pressure is on, when you haven’t previously done so, and especially when the club has been synonymous with NOT doing so, against a club who have trophies galore even in their...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

I think he would have done far better because he would have had actual centre backs, actual wingers, a good back up striker in RKM and I think Simons would have fared better with options around him. Bissouma probably wouldn’t have been frozen out, and we probably wouldn’t have sold Brennan...

OMT - Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

Fair points. And you might be right. We simply have to beat Palace. It’s one of our winnable games against a team also in bad form. At home. This is one of the ones Tudor was brought in to get. If he can’t do that, then GHod knows what will happen. I too liked the idea of Harry as a figurehead...

OMT - Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

Agreed. I think the main issue is that the squad has no confidence in themselves right now but also in the club. Sacking Tudor would just prove to the majority that are already mentally checked out from being here that this club is truly a basket case and has no chance to be saved.

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

‘What happened at Forest’ is not ‘evidence’ of anything. It’s a completely different club is a completely different context.

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

My point is not that Ange is better than Poch. It’s that he was able to arrive at a final, and tell the players they were going to win. And they believed it, and then did it. I think people are glossing over just how much of a difference it was for our club to have someone that believed he was a...

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

It would have been better than this season and better in the league than his previous season, because he wouldn’t have had as many injuries unless he got serious bad luck. Simple as that.

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

I don’t think you can look at our players when the final whistle blew in Bilbao and say it had no effect on their mentality. The whole point is that a moment like that could have been allowed to change things but our decision makers didn’t allow it to happen. I also think we needed a winner...

OMT - Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

Fair points. I was probably trying to not mentally acknowledge how bad the situation was. And still frustrated by the inconsistency of the refereeing. Feels like everything is against us at the moment and I didn’t want to add to it. But you’re right.

OMT - Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

Yeah fair enough. I think on reflection I just didn’t want to feel the reality of the situation. But I agree, Fulham should have had a couple more.

OMT - Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

I don’t think we deserved to win. I don’t think we were bad either, but when we have to suffer terrible refereeing decisions like that, it changes games. Also a weird one at the end there. Pahlinha is bundled over and yet somehow is blow up for the free kick. Have to shout out Vicario for...

OMT - Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

I just think the bigger scandal here is the consistency. I think that was utterly outrageous after what happened last week especially. If Radu’s defending there is bad, then Gabriel’s was shocking.
