***Spurs vs Saudi Sportswashing Machine***, League Cup, 29th October 2025 at St James Park

Tough one. Getting somewhat concerned about the workload for some of our players. VdV, Porro, Palhinha, Bentancur and Kudus. But not many of those we can realistically rotate out now with the injuries (defenders) and our reliance on Kudus in attack. Will be really interesting to see what Frank...

    Xavi Simons

Agreed to some extent, but I also think he's more than that. And when he's currently getting the ball in those pockets of space he's not doing as much as he can (confidence, adjusting to the PL etc).

***Tottenham Hotspur v Everton*** - OMT

Essentially needs to do more of what he did in that situation. Be proactive, try to make something happen on the ball. We all know what he can do when released down the line or in behind or if he gets service in the box. But needs to add more to his overall game. Heard it elsewhere too (can't...

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Agreed. Tactics including more than just the lineup and formation. Hand break off a bit. For sure there are weaknesses in this squad, injuries, players still settling in as you point out. But there's also a lot of quality here now.

    Pedro Porro

Did really well imo. Needed help up against Grealish, but who doesn't when Grealish is on form and frequently joined by an attacking full back.

    Micky van de Ven

Fantastic performance. Seems to be developing very well this season. Difficult to say to what extent that is the different setup, but to me seeing more from him now than before. Some great front foot aggressive defending, seems better in the air to me and in the last game at least able to take...

    Xavi Simons

This seems spot on to me. Think he's showing good fight in duels etc, getting stuck in. Working hard. Just needs to click for him on the ball and the team need to help him too, set him up in more of those situations where he can thrive.

    Pape Matar Sarr

Shocking. Makes sense with his muted celebration too. Body language and all that, but to me looked like something unrelated to football.

***Tottenham Hotspur v Everton*** - OMT

More ambition in possession from several players I thought. Bentancur, Palhinha, VdV, Vicario. Thought that was a good step. Overall a close game I thought, kind of lucky to end up winning it by three. But a close game against this Everton side away is a good performance.

***Tottenham Hotspur v Everton*** - OMT

For me a significantly improved performance. We're actually playing with some risk and purpose on the ball in central areas. Struggling to create chances outside of set pieces, but getting into good areas and less predictable. Two great set piece goals. A bit fortunate to be two up. But...

    Rodrigo Bentancur

As Nathan Clark points out small sample size. Also a lot of differences from last season to this season. But still. Strengthens my view that this is Bentancur playing as instructed.

    Xavi Simons

Yeah. Until we're willing to actually play with some risk through the middle, play Bergvall/Gray in midfield as well as Simons for example, we may as well play Simons on the left. At least he'd get to get on the ball.

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Haven't seen anyone suggesting anything else?
  14. B

    Rodrigo Bentancur

Yes and no imo. Maddison for example very rarely gives the ball away in that kind of situation while managing to be progressive. Kulusevski and Bergvall are higher risk. But all of them would benefit from having more progressive passing options.
  15. B

    Rodrigo Bentancur

Bergvall was particularly good last season when playing a bit deeper, not as a 10. Gray barely played as a midfielder, but showed clearly what he can do on the ball in tight areas. Playing them in midfield over Palhinha, Bentancur or Sarr in the pivot would come at a risk. Bergvall showed that...

    Randal Kolo Muani

Some promising signs coming on against Monaco. If we can get him up and running and use him right he's a really good player that could be very useful for us. Hopefully more to come from him tomorrow.

Tyrese Hall - on loan at Notts County

Great to hear him doing well on loan. Seems to have real talent and potential.

    OMT ** Tottenham Hotspur v Monaco ** 22/10/25.

I sure hope this isn't the style he's going to double down on into the future. And that dynamic isn't just for what individuals do in wide areas. Fully agreed that it's way too early to conclude on anything and he needs time. But it's also on him to show what he can do to change and improve...

    Cristian Romero

Hope he's back very soon. Our best player and like last season a key player for us in terms of what he brings that others don't.

    Xavi Simons

Those things are only talking points until we actually see it in action I'm not doubting that those are principles he holds. But how are they weighted up against principles of being defensively solid etc.
