Ready made is supposed to mean good. We bought ready made rubbish.

We just don't get those kinds of passes into the pen box. Incisive and threatening.

It's interesting they clearly know Kudus is the danger man. Anytime he has the ball he's instantly surrounded by 3 Monaco players.

This game has shown on a couple of occasions why Bergvall isn't truly trusted in midfield. He loses it a lot in dangerous places. I think it's because his first instinct is to dribble and beat his man rather than to try and pass it on. He's a driver of the ball not a passer.

We were. After the Gibbs-White fallout he was very heavily linked.

That Monaco attack is what we are missing. Good hold up and link play from their striker and then a really nice and inventive pass back into Balogun. Not bad from us afterwards, Richy just too slow getting his shot off.

    Xavi Simons

It shouldn't be the defence's job even when Romero is available. A midfield must have passing quality if it has any serious intentions on sustainable repeatable success.

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

We finished 17th in the league last season, we aren't even supposed to be in it this year based on quality. To Jump from 17th to Top 4/5 was always going to be quite the challenge imo.

We don't have a Top 4 squad so I don't know what people were really expecting.

Our football was fudging dog brick last season. No direction and just lots of passing it around and overly aggressively positioned yet with no penetration. That's not good football.

I definitely hear you on the personality part and he's definitely got the drive I just think we actually need a passer as the ball can move faster than any one man can run. It's also the inherent risk of him driving with the ball means he's more likely to be out of position after he's moved with...

    Mohammed Kudus

I agree but at the same time I don't really believe any of that will work. The quality we have or the lack of that quality will always be the decider imo. Ps. Unless you're truly willing to play percentage football.

    Mohammed Kudus

    We have no choice.

Bergvall isn't really a passer, people seem to have a belief as to what kind of player they think or want him to be rather than what they can actually see with their eyes. He drives with the ball, he's not a passer so far. I don't think he solves any issues, I'd probably argue for Sarr there...

The football isn't great but what did anyone really expect? The quality we have is severely lacking. I really think the complaints are because so much of fan base is frankly delusional and think our players are far better than they are. Our attack is crap, Kudus aside none of them are top 4...

We need a deeper passer than either Xavi or Maddison or Kulu. You're forgetting how Maddison performed when presented with the same issues, a reminder he was poor also. The problem is due to our lack of a passing 8, the ball only ever gets the 10 after a rather laboured process by which point...

I like your optimism but im not sure who we see playing the kind of accurately weighted passes necessary to succeed in that manner?

It would come back CONSTANTLY! We'd struggle to get out of our own half. Johnson isn't an answer to any questions we want answers for.

*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur FC v Aston Villa ***

Johnson is too poor at everything else other than finding space and finishing that Frank isn't willing to handicap the rest of the team to try and make it work (it wouldn't anyway). Besides other than Xavi we don't really have anyone particular good at playing those kinds of passes who is fit...

Hah I wasn't being obtuse just reminding you we had this convo. I don't have a problem with Romero's passing I just don't believe it's an optimum way of playing football. You want a CB like him in addition to quality in midfield rather than instead of. Regarding Bergvall I'm not sure he really...
