    Was referring to Joe Lewis

I get why people would perform mental gymnastics like that when we weren’t winning things, but we’ve got the ultimate ammunition now that we’ve just won a trophy.

Fully aware of what it means, but the original post was still wrong. Because it’s a positive opinion about the club, no one questions it no matter how deluded the post is.

The context here being that other clubs have been more successful

As opposed to a soulless Brit in charge now 😀 I just want the best for the club. As long as they’re not criminals I don’t really care where they are from, I want the best and most qualified people for the job as in any walk of life.

Ok well it’s not none as the OP said but everyone seems to be happy with that statement as no one else has questioned it.

That wasn’t the statement from the OP. He said I can’t think of another club who has been more successful in the 25 years since Levy has been in charge. All of those clubs have won the title and have won more trophies in total than us by a distance.

Yes. Liverpool, Arsenal, United, Chelsea etc.

Yeah hence why I said occasionally, 2 trophies in 25 years isn’t what I would call occasionally. I think it’s fair to attach some responsibility to the players and the managers who didn’t get over the line in certain big games but it’s also true to say our squad depth wasn’t as the clubs we were...

You still have to occasionally win trophies as a big club even if you’re not favourites for the final. Crystal Palace and Saudi Sportswashing Machine just won their first trophies in forever while beating Emirates Marketing Project and Liverpool. Arsenal beat City and Chelsea on the way to winning FA cups on more than one occasion.

And that’s fair. It would be more accurate to say we’ve pulled clear of Villa and Everton who are/were clubs of similar stature to us. But to claim nobody has been better run as the poster did isn’t true.

    One poster in particular is.

English clubs were included as well. We haven’t been more successful than Liverpool, Arsenal, United and Chelsea over the last 25 years.

Or it’s just called getting a good deal for selling players like we did for Bale who had 1 consistent season and we got £85m for him.

    Daniel Levy - Former Chairman

That’s fine and I’ve acknowledged many times that Levy did a lot of great things for the club but the poster said “he couldn’t think of a club who has been more successful without cheating”. He didn’t caveat it by singling out clubs who were already bigger than us. Liverpool actually went...

Liverpool and Arsenal haven’t cheated, they’ve been more successful. How have United cheated? They’ve also clearly been more successful. Numerous clubs in other clubs in Europe too.

Umpteen managers and players are more deserving of getting a statue
  18. Jurgen the German

    Daniel Levy - Former Chairman

There’s loads of owners who have been successful without cheating

Or it could end well. I don’t know why so many are unshakeable in their belief that their isn’t anyone who can run premier league club to a similar standard.

Grateful for what he’s done at the club raising the profile commercially and in other areas. I feel this is the right decision for all involved though. 25 years at the top of any organisation is a long time. The football decision making just hasn’t been good enough in the last 5 years in...
